Washington (CNN) - The Supreme Court will debate the balance between free speech and security concerns of top government officials in a case involving a war opponent's chance encounter with then-Vice President Dick Cheney.
The justices on Monday accepted review of an appeal from U.S. Secret Service agents, who want to be shielded from a lawsuit filed by Steven Howards of Golden, Colorado. The man was arrested after confronting Cheney in a public area in 2006 - making physical contact with the vice president– and announcing his opposition to the Iraqi war.FULL STORY

Washington (CNN) - Former Vice President Dick Cheney said Sunday he supports the Obama administration's decision to repeal the "don't ask, don't tell" policy banning gays and lesbians from serving openly in the military - a move that was staunchly opposed by most top Republicans.
"I think the decision that's been made with respect to allowing gays to serve openly in the military is a good one" Cheney told CNN's Candy Crowley on "State of the Union." "It's the right thing to do."FULL STORY
(CNN) - Former Vice President Dick Cheney said Tuesday he was troubled by remarks from Republican presidential candidates who say it's time for American troops to leave Afghanistan.
"It does worry me because I think after all the effort that's been made and the sacrifice that's come in the form of lives of our soldiers and national treasure, both Afghanistan and Iraq are extraordinarily important," Cheney said in a wide-ranging interview with CNN Chief National Correspondent John King. The interview, which took place at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif., airs Tuesday on "John King, USA" at 7 p.m. ET.
(CNN) - Former President Bill Clinton said former Vice President Dick Cheney was playing politics when he suggested Secretary of State Hillary Clinton run for president in 2012 against President Barack Obama.
“I'm very proud of her. And so I'm always gratified whenever anyone says anything nice about her. And I very much agree that she's done a good job,” Clinton, a Democrat, said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “But I also have a high regard for Vice President Cheney's political skills. And I think one of those great skills is sowing discord among the opposition.”
(CNN) – When talking about his eight years as vice president, Dick Cheney said he had no regrets from his time working as former President George W. Bush's right-hand man.
"And I'm not inclined to make any mea culpas," Cheney told CNN's Wolf Blitzer in an interview to air on the "Situation Room" Tuesday.
(CNN) – Former Vice President Dick Cheney is now in an open debate with both of President George W. Bush's Secretaries of State – Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice. They sharply dispute what he writes about them in his new book, "In My Time."
President Bush, for his part, is taking the high road. He's simply suggesting that everyone in his administration has his or her own recollections about what happened and that "objective historians" eventually will get to the truth.FULL STORY
(CNN) – In May 1990, CNN asked me to serve as its Pentagon correspondent. I was expecting a relatively slow news story since the Cold War was winding down. I thought I would spend most of my time covering base closings and new weapons systems. That was not to be because Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait that August.
It was during the six months of Operation Desert Shield and the six weeks of Operation Desert Storm that I really got to know the then-Defense Secretary Dick Cheney and the then-Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Colin Powell. They were the leaders of the U.S. military. They became the chief spokesmen for the war buildup and then for the war itself.FULL STORY
(CNN) - Former Secretary of State Colin Powell on Sunday responded to criticism leveled at members of the Bush administration by former Vice President Dick Cheney in his new biography, characterizing Cheney's recent comments as "cheap shots."
Cheney takes issue with the actions of Powell, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and former CIA Director George Tenet, among others, in the book titled "In My Time." While promoting the memoir last week, Cheney said there would be "heads exploding all over Washington" when his book hits the shelves Tuesday.
