Obama: Romney overstepped on Libya, Egypt attacks

(CNN) – President Barack Obama, responding to criticism from his rival Mitt Romney on the U.S. response to attacks in Egypt and Libya, said Romney had spoken before making a full assessment of the facts.

"There's a broader lesson to be learned here," Obama said in a CBS interview. A clip of the interview was aired Wednesday afternoon.

Ryan ramps up foreign policy attack on Obama

De Pere, Wisconsin (CNN) – Mitt Romney's running mate Paul Ryan, speaking at a campaign event in Wisconsin, condemned the deadly attacks on U.S. missions in Egypt and Libya on Tuesday while also accusing President Barack Obama of projecting weakness abroad.

The Republican opened his De Pere town hall on Wednesday with a mention of the "disturbing" news out of the Middle East. It was his first solo question-and-answer session with voters since becoming Mitt Romney's running mate.

Are Romney's comments on Libya a 2012 game changer?

(CNN) – Mitt Romney's decision to comment on the diplomatic attacks in the Middle East is revealing a split among Republicans who differ over the GOP nominee's remarks on the violence.

"Too quick to politicize over faulty reporting initially. Too quick to politicize (the) death of foreign service officers. Makes him appear not ready," is how one top adviser to John McCain's 2008 campaign put it to CNN.

FIRST ON CNN: Romney camp tries to manage fallout from Libya response

De Pere, Wisconsin (CNN) - Facing criticism for its aggressive and politically-charged response to Tuesday's violent attacks on the American embassies in Egypt and Libya, Mitt Romney's presidential campaign is quietly advising Republicans how to respond to questions about the campaign's handling of the episode.

In talking points currently being pushed to Republican leaders and top surrogates, the Romney campaign recommends attacking President's Obama "foreign policy of weakness" and dismissing questions about how the campaign responded to the crisis last night.

Ryan's foreign policy views shaped by his budget battles

Washington (CNN) – As the chief architect of the Republican budget plan, presidential nominee Mitt Romney's choice for vice president, Paul Ryan, is well-known in budget policy circles around Washington, but his 14 years on Capitol Hill have left a much smaller paper trail when it comes to foreign policy statements and achievements.

That said, Ryan's focus during his seven terms in Congress on balancing the federal budget and extolling the virtues of fiscal restraint seems to have also formed the center of his thinking on foreign policy issues, which seems to hue to the classic Republican view of the world.

(CNN) – Mitt Romney arrived in London early Wednesday, his first stop on a three-country tour meant to bolster his foreign policy credentials months ahead of November's general election.

Romney and his wife Ann were seen entering the Park Lane Hilton in Mayfair, a day before the presumptive GOP nominee was slated to meet with virtually every major British political leader, including Prime Minister David Cameron, deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and opposition leader Ed Miliband. He will also meet with William Hague, the U.K. foreign secretary, and former Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Romney calls for 'American century' in foreign policy address

Reno, Nevada (CNN) – Mitt Romney foretold an "American Century" based on military and economic strength Tuesday in a major foreign policy address ahead of his trip to Europe and Israel.

In his remarks, Romney took sharp aim at President Barack Obama, saying policies enacted over the last three years had weakened America's military and reduced America's global stature.

Romney blasts Obama for leaks and military cuts

Reno, Nevada (CNN) - Mitt Romney accused President Barack Obama and his administration of leaking classified intelligence details for political gain in a major foreign policy speech in Reno Tuesday.

"Whoever provided classified information to the media, seeking political advantage for the administration, must be exposed, dismissed, and punished. The time for stonewalling is over," Romney said at a gathering of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. President Barack Obama addressed the group Monday.

Romney slams Obama on Syria as U.S. expels diplomats

(CNN) – Mitt Romney, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, said Tuesday he welcomed the decision to expel Syrian diplomats from the United States, but that President Barack Obama was weak in his handling of the troubled nation.

"I welcome the expulsion of Syrian diplomats by the United States and other partner nations," Romney wrote in a statement. "But it only underscores the need for more assertive measures to end the Assad regime. President Obama's lack of leadership has resulted in a policy of paralysis that has watched Assad slaughter 10,000 individuals."

Biden touts Obama's foreign policy in West Point address

(CNN) – In a commencement address that often echoed his campaign pitch, Vice President Joe Biden on Saturday offered graduating cadets at the U.S. Military Academy a full-throated espousal of President Barack Obama's foreign policy.
