George Allen won't run again

(CNN) - After more than three decades in politics, George Allen says he's done.

"I have no intention of running for office again," Virginia's former governor and U.S. senator said in interviews with the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the Virginian-Pilot, and the News Virginian.

Kaine narrowly defeats Allen in expensive Virginia Senate race

Washington (CNN) – In the hotly contested state of Virginia, Democrat Tim Kaine has defeated Republican George Allen in the race for the state's open Senate seat.

Allen conceded in a Tuesday night speech and pledged his support to Kaine.

Virginia Senate race continues amid storm

(CNN) – The tight race for U.S. Senate in Virginia continued Monday, despite the historic storm bearing down on the state.

Tim Kaine, the Democratic candidate, held an event in Stanardsville, north of Charlottesville in the western part of the commonwealth. His afternoon events, slated for Culpeper and Fauquier Counties, were all canceled, as his campaign said events scheduled for Tuesday would also be scrubbed as the storm blows through.

Va. Senate debate: Kaine open to minimum tax, Allen sidesteps Romney

Washington (CNN) – Tim Kaine, the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Virginia, said Thursday during a debate that he could support a minimum tax for all Americans, no matter their income level or job status.

Kaine, who is the former governor of Virginia and chairman of the Democratic National Committee, was answering a question related to recently revealed comments from GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, who was captured on secretly recorded tapes saying the 47% of Americans on government programs consider themselves "victims."

Senate races locked up in Virginia, Wisconsin

(CNN) – Three months ahead of November's general election, races for the U.S. Senate are deadlocked in Virginia and Wisconsin, according to a poll released Wednesday.

Virginia's two candidates – former Governors Tim Kaine and George Allen – are statistically tied in their race to replace retiring Democratic Sen. Jim Webb. Kaine, a Democrat, stood at 48% in the Quinnipiac University/CBS News/New York Times poll, while Allen, a Republican, was at 46%.

Senate candidates trade jabs over defense cuts, taxes in Virginia debate

(CNN) - At a luxury resort where visitors usually come for rest and relaxation, former Virginia governors George Allen and Tim Kaine, who hope to represent the Commonwealth in the U.S. Senate, squared off Saturday morning in a debate moderated by CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley.

Both candidates noted Friday's mass shootings in Aurora, Colorado in their opening remarks. Republican Allen praised Democrat Kaine’s handling of the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre while he was governor.

(CNN) – The two former Virginia governors and current candidates for the state's open U.S. Senate seat will face off Saturday in a debate moderated by CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley.

Republican George Allen and Democrat Tim Kaine will debate at The Virginia Bar Association's statewide meeting in Hot Springs, Virginia.

CNN’s Crowley to moderate Senate debate in Virginia

(CNN) - Former Virginia Govs. George Allen and Tim Kaine, both candidates for a U.S. Senate seat, will face off in a debate this month moderated by CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley.

The debate, on July 21, will take place at The Virginia Bar Association's statewide meeting in Hot Springs, Virginia.

Kaine out-raises Allen in Virginia

(CNN) - In the Virginia Senate race between two former governors, Democratic candidate Tim Kaine out-raised his Republican opponent George Allen in the second quarter.

Kaine's campaign announced Wednesday it brought in approximately $3 million in the last three months, while Allen's team said it took in more than $2 million during the same time period.
