Top Republicans sign brief supporting same-sex marriage

(CNN) – As the Supreme Court gets ready to hear cases on same-sex marriage next month, dozens of high-profile Republicans have signed onto a brief in a show of support for gay couples to legally wed.

The amicus or “friend of the court” legal brief, first reported by the New York Times, includes signatures by close advisers to former President George W. Bush as well as former governors and two members of Congress.

Investigation opened into hacked Bush family e-mails

(CNN) – The United States Secret Service is investigating the hacking and publication of private e-mails between members of the Bush family, including former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, which were published online late Thursday.

"The Secret Service is investigating this matter," the agency's spokesman Ed Donovan told CNN on Friday.

Bushes will not attend inauguration

(CNN) - Neither former President George H.W. Bush nor his son former President George W. Bush will attend the inauguration of President Barack Obama.

Both attended Obama's first inauguration in 2009, when the younger Bush's second term ended. Former presidents often attend inaugurations and have prominent seats alongside legislators, Supreme Court justices and other dignitaries.

Former first daughter Jenna Bush pregnant

(CNN) – George W. Bush is going to be a grandfather.

The former president's daughter Jenna announced Wednesday she was "nervous and so excited" to be expecting her first child, due sometime in the spring of 2013.

Former President Bush jumps back into immigration debate

(CNN) – Former President George W. Bush, who presided over the last attempt to pass comprehensive immigration reform in 2007, reiterated his belief Tuesday that immigrants are a beneficial and integral part of the American way of life.

"Immigrants come with new skills and new ideas. They fill a critical gap in our labor market. They work hard for a chance at a better life," Bush said in a short speech at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. He was speaking ahead of an event sponsored by the George W. Bush Institute spotlighting the positive economic impact of immigration.

Another Bush flirts with office in Texas

(CNN) - George P. Bush, the nephew of former President George W. Bush and son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, this week filed paperwork required to run for office in the state of Texas.

The 36-year-old attorney hand-delivered the document Wednesday to the Texas Ethics Commission, the agency that oversees campaigns for state offices, including state senators, state legislators and statewide positions.

Bush 43 visits Romney campaign HQ

(CNN) - Former President George W. Bush and former first lady Laura Bush visited Mitt Romney's Republican presidential campaign headquarters in Boston Tuesday.

The Romney campaign tells CNN the former president addressed Romney staffers. Romney was not at the headquarters during Bush’s remarks. He started his day in southern California and addresses a Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Reno, Nevada later Tuesday.

Former President George W. Bush to skip Republican Convention

Washington (CNN) - Former President George W. Bush has decided he is not going to next month's Republican Convention.

"President Bush was grateful for the invitation to the Republican National Convention. He supports Governor Romney and wants him to succeed. President Bush is confident that Mitt Romney will be a great President. But he's still enjoying his time off the political stage and respectfully declined the invitation to go to Tampa," his spokesman Freddy Ford told CNN after inquiries about his plans.

George W. Bush: Presidential afterlife is ‘awesome’

(CNN) – George W. Bush says the “afterlife” of his Presidency has been, simply put, "awesome."

Bush’s wife, Laura, used the term “afterlife” to describe life after the presidency as documented by Bush in his book, "Decision Points," published after he left the White House. Asked by interviewer Peter Robinson of the Hoover Institution what Bush wanted to accomplish in his “afterlife,” Bush said contrary to the name, the “afterlife” has been “awesome.”

Bush travels to Zambia, Botswana to raise cancer awareness

(CNN) - Former President George W. Bush is visiting Zambia to promote a health initiative that focuses on cervical and breast cancer prevention and treatment.

In the city of Kabwe, Bush worked with local residents Saturday to refurbish a clinic used to screen, diagnose and treat cervical cancer.
