
Washington (CNN) – The Republican-controlled House of Representatives passed legislation Wednesday to dramatically expand the right to carry concealed firearms in most states.
The National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act passed the House by a vote of 272-154, with representatives dividing mostly along party lines.

Washington (CNN) – The House Ethics Committee announced Friday that it will launch an investigation of Rep. Laura Richardson, D-California, over alleged misuse of House resources for political purposes.
The committee released a statement saying it will create an “investigative subcommittee” to “determine whether Representative Laura Richardson violated the Code of Official Conduct or any law, rule, regulation…with respect to the alleged use of official House resources and personnel for work related to campaign activities and other non-official purposes.”

(CNN) - Rep. John Olver, D-Massachusetts, announced he will retire after serving out his 10th term in the House of Representatives in 2013.
"Last December, I announced that I intended to seek to continue my congressional service beyond 2012," Olver said in a statement on Wednesday. "Over the past six months, circumstances within my family have substantially changed, and I now find I must reconsider my earlier decision."

(CNN) - Samuel Wurzelbacher, also known as "Joe the Plumber," kicked off his congressional campaign Tuesday night, hoping to win over an Ohio House seat for the GOP.
"Our current system is all about control. It needs to be fixed," Wurzelbacher said. "They keep on putting duct tape on it. I'm not the kind of plumber that uses duct tape."

Washington (CNN) – The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee outpaced its Republican counterpart for the month of September, according to numbers released late Thursday.
In a push to regain control of the House of Representatives, the fundraising arm for House Democrats raised $6.64 million last month, compared with $3.8 million raised by the National Republican Campaign Committee.
