Washington (CNN) – Prominent conservative group Club for Growth threw its support Tuesday behind Richard Mourdock in his quest to unseat incumbent Republican Sen. Dick Lugar.
The group's president, Chris Chocola, wrote an opinion piece in National Review Online calling for a "fiscal conservative" to represent Indiana, a mantle he said Lugar cannot claim.
(CNN) - Rick Santorum's campaign said Monday an internal review had found enough valid petition signatures to challenge the former Pennsylvania senator's exclusion from the ballot in Indiana.
"We found 49 petition signers who were incorrectly rejected by Marion County board of election officials. We expect a speedy recertification. And we are confident we will be on the Indiana ballot," Santorum spokesman Hogan Gidley said.

(CNN) - An Indiana group called Hoosiers for a Conservative Senate will hold a straw poll later this month to endorse a GOP candidate to primary challenge longtime Republican Sen. Richard Lugar.
The group tells CNN that their convention will be held on September 24th in Greenfield, Indiana and that it will include both a convention style format and a straw poll, with two delegates each from 55 tea party groups from across the state voting. Hoosiers for a Conservative Senate will make their Senate endorsement based on the results of the straw poll vote.

(CNN) - Indiana Republican Rep. Mike Pence jumpstarted his gubernatorial effort to succeed Gov. Mitch Daniels by hauling in more than $350,000 in campaign donations a little more than one month after he announced his bid.
According to filings submitted to the Indiana Election Division, 15 individuals and three businesses have given large contributions to the campaign. Pence's online accounting of funds does not include donations under $10,000.
