Cruz blazing '16 path from Iowa to N.H.

Washington (CNN) - Sen. Ted Cruz will headline a second fundraiser in New Hampshire when he visits the final week of April, as the Texas Republican continues to flirt with a bid for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination.

Cruz will be the featured guest at a $500-a-plate fundraiser for Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire, a conservative organization that, among other things, is working to try and defeat Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen in November.

Poll: Majority don't believe Christie, Clinton explanations

(CNN) – A majority of Americans don't believe the explanations by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton about two controversies that continue to dog them as they seriously consider White House runs, according to a new national poll.

And another new survey indicates Clinton topping Christie by double digits in one of the most important states in the race for the White House.

Iowa poll gauges support for presidential retreads

(CNN) – A new survey asked Iowa voters about potential presidential candidates who’ve already run for the White House, and the results show some good news for Republicans Mike Huckabee and Paul Ryan.

But for Rick Santorum, who won the Iowa GOP caucuses in 2012 by a razor-thin margin, and Rick Perry, the results indicate Hawkeye State Republicans aren't quite as excited about the prospects of another presidential bid by the former Pennsylvania senator and the Texas governor. FULL POST

What's behind Rick Perry's new specs?

(CNN) - Straying from his 2012 campaign trail all-American, no-frills persona, Rick Perry had a new look while making a round of media calls in Washington last week – a trendy pair of thick-rimmed glasses.

Return visit to Iowa stirs more Brown 2016 speculation

(CNN) – Scott Brown is headed back to Iowa.

The Ringgold County GOP confirms to CNN that the former senator from Massachusetts will speak at their April 3rd dinner in Mount Ayr, in the south-central part of the state.

This will be Brown's third tip to Iowa since last summer. He made a swing through the Iowa State Fair last August and returned in November to address a Scott County GOP fundraiser.

Iowa candidate: Koch backing 'like being endorsed by Charles Manson'

(CNN) - Elections in Coralville, Iowa, a town of about 20,000, took a big city turn when the billionaire Koch brother's group, Americans for Prosperity, jumped into last year's mayoral and city council race.

"It was kind of like being endorsed by Charles Manson," is how Chris Turner, a fiscally conservative city council candidate, described the support by AFP to "The Daily Show's" Jason Jones.
