
(CNN) – While the countdown to the next presidential election has already begun with talk of potential contenders, it felt like the 2016 drumroll picked up a little more speed Friday night in South Carolina.
Vice President Joe Biden and Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas headlined events less than two miles apart in the Palmetto State, known for holding the first presidential primary in the South during election years.

(CNN) – Regrouping with the nation's leading law enforcement representatives three weeks after bipartisan gun-control legislation suffered a surprising defeat in the Senate, Vice President Joe Biden indicated he will begin a new push to rally the American public around the issue, according to attendees of the meeting.
"He said he is committed to seeing this through. He wants to hit the road and interact with stakeholders and the public in general and continue to educate them on what the purpose of this legislation is," said Jon Adler, President of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association and one of the participants in the meeting.

(CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden said Friday that if not for the economic collapse surrounding the 2008 presidential race, Sen. John McCain might have beat President Barack Obama.

Washington (CNN) – Vice President Joe Biden reassured leading gun control groups Thursday that the administration remains committed to pushing an expansion of background checks for gun purchases through Congress, according to one of the event's attendees.
Biden, who has led the administration's efforts on gun control in the wake of the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, told the meeting of about 15 participants that despite last week's defeat of a bi-partisan measure in the Senate to expand checks at gun shows and online sales, that this was just the beginning.

(CNN) – The brothers accused of planting bombs at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, and later murdering a police officer in Cambridge, are "twisted, perverted, cowardly knock-off jihadis" who failed to instill fear in the American people, Vice President Joe Biden said at a memorial service for the slain officer Wednesday.
"It infuriates them that we refuse to bend, refuse to change, refuse to yield to fear," Biden said at the afternoon event honoring of Sean Collier. "The doctrine of hate and oppression, they've found out cannot compete with the values of openness and inclusiveness. And that's why they're losing around the world."

(CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden will attend a memorial service Wednesday for Sean Collier, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology police officer who died last week in Boston, a White House official confirmed to CNN.
Collier was killed amid a manhunt for the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing last week. Police believe the bombing suspects were responsible for the shooting.
