(CNN) – Jury selection begins in a Greensboro, North Carolina, federal courtroom Thursday in the trial of 2008 Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

Edwards is charged with six felony and misdemeanor counts related to the money dealings of his failed 2008 campaign.

(CNN) - The former mistress of 2008 Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards is expected to be a prosecution witness in his federal criminal trial next month, a federal judge said in court Thursday.

At issue in the approaching North Carolina trial is whether money given to support Edward's mistress, Rielle Hunter, by the then-candidate's benefactors should have been considered donations toward his presidential campaign.

John Edwards' sex tape to be destroyed after settlement reached

(CNN) – A former aide and a former mistress of one-time presidential candidate John Edwards have settled a civil lawsuit between them that, among other measures, mandates the imminent destruction of sex tapes featuring Edwards and the woman.

Orange County, North Carolina, Superior Court Judge Carl Fox on Thursday signed the settlement agreement between Andrew Young, his wife and Rielle Hunter, the woman who had sued the couple, according to court official Tammy Keshler.

Contempt hearing postponed for former John Edwards aide

Hillsborough, North Carolina (CNN) – A judge postponed a hearing Monday in a case that pits a former aide to John Edwards against the one-time presidential candidate's former mistress.

Andrew Young, a former Edwards aide, was scheduled to appear in court Monday, but a judge postponed the hearing because a prosecutor had not yet been assigned to the case.

John Edwards again asks for trial delay, cites medical issue

(CNN) - Attorneys for John Edwards asked again Thursday to delay his criminal trial, saying the former presidential candidate and U.S. senator has an unspecified medical issue.

In June, the Justice Department charged Edwards with conspiracy, issuing false statements and violating campaign contribution laws. He has pleaded not guilty.

John Edwards loses court bid to dismiss criminal case

(CNN) - A federal judge in North Carolina rejected motions by former senator John Edwards to have his criminal indictment dismissed, spokeswoman Robin Zier with the US Attorney's office in the Eastern District of North Carolina said Thursday.

The decision sets the stage for his trial to begin in January.

Federal judge pushes back start of Edwards' trial to 2012

(CNN) - The criminal trial of former presidential candidate and U.S. senator John Edwards has been delayed until January, a federal judge ruled Thursday.

The trial had been scheduled to start next month. The order authorizing the delay was signed by James Beatty, the chief judge for the U.S. District Court of the Middle District of North Carolina.

Lawyers for Edwards file motions to dismiss charges

(CNN) - Lawyers for John Edwards said Tuesday they filed motions seeking the dismissal of charges against the former U.S. senator accused of conspiracy, issuing false statements and violating campaign contribution laws.

Edwards, the Democratic vice presidential nominee in 2004, has pleaded not guilty. The five motions filed Tuesday call for all the charges to get thrown out, his lawyers said in a statement.
