Washington (CNN) – They're the top two ranked Republicans in the U.S. Senate, and they're both running for re-election next year.
And now, both Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and Senate Minority Whip John Cornyn of Texas have both reached out to veterans of the grassroots conservative movement to run their re-election campaigns.

(CNN) - National Democrats have landed their candidate to face off against Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell.
Kentucky's Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, who many in the party consider their best hope to try and unseat McConnell in next year's midterm elections, announced Monday that she will form a campaign in the next two weeks.
(CNN) – Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's re-election is still a long way away, but the ad wars in the Kentucky Republican's 2014 bid for a sixth term in the Senate started early and continue to simmer.
Two independent pro-Democratic groups announced Thursday that they were teaming up to launch a "30 years is too long" campaign that targets McConnell. The groups, the Senate Majority PAC and Patriot Majority USA, say their efforts include TV, radio and digital ads, as well as a new website, to argue that "it's time for a switch."

(CNN) - Sen. Mitch McConnell's re-election campaign says it's going up on television Friday with a new television commercial seizing upon last week's news that the Senate minority leader and political operatives were secretly taped at his Louisville, Kentucky headquarters.
The ad, which McConnell's campaign says they'll spend six figures to run statewide in Kentucky on broadcast and cable T.V., tries to link the push by national Democrats to defeat the Senate's top Republican in his re-election bid next year with the controversy over the secret recordings, along with an earlier racial attack on McConnell's wife by a local progressive group.
