Washington (CNN) - After three days of talks focused on halting Iran's uranium enrichment efforts broke down Sunday morning, Sen. Lindsey Graham said Congress would not wait for the next round of negotiations.
Graham said he intends to put forward a measure that would mandate more sanctions on Iran, aimed at forcing the Middle Eastern nation to dismantle its nuclear weapons program - a move that runs counter to the interim steps sought by the negotiating parties gathered in Geneva, Switzerland.
Washington (CNN) - Sen. Lindsey Graham played the role of reluctant warrior Sunday, telling “Fox News Sunday's” Chris Wallace that he doesn't want to hold up every nomination in the Senate over what happened in Benghazi, Libya. But, he said, until the administration allows the Senate to hear testimony from survivors of the attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission there, he’ll block the White House at every turn.
"I shouldn't have to do this," the South Carolina lawmaker said. "I shouldn't have to make these kinds of threats."
(CNN) - Sen. Lindsey Graham is doubling down on his promise to filibuster any White House nominees until he gets answers on Benghazi.
When the South Carolina Republican has asked for survivors of the September 2012 attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission to be interviewed by Congress, the response, he said, was "take a hike."
The refusal to make the survivors available is "an unacceptable way for the Obama administration to behave," Graham told Wolf Blitzer on CNN's "The Situation Room."
Sen. Lindsey Graham will appear on "CNN's The Situation Room" Tuesday at 5pm
(CNN) - A top critic of the U.S. response to the terror attack on the Benghazi diplomatic compound said Monday that he would block all Obama administration nominees before the Senate until survivors of the deadly assault testify before Congress.
"I think the story was about the fact that our guys died in a different way than explained by the administration," Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina told Fox News on Monday following a dramatic CBS "60 Minutes" interview with a man described as a British security officer who witnessed last year's attack.
Washington (CNN) – Sen. Lindsey Graham grew furious Wednesday after Director of National Intelligence James Clapper told a Senate committee the government shutdown "seriously damages" national security.
The South Carolina Republican blasted his fellow members of Congress for failing to reach a deal to end the shutdown, but he took particular aim at President Barack Obama.
"I think it's irresponsible for all of us to let it continue," he said. "But where the hell is the commander in chief?"
Washington (CNN) – Noted Senate liberal Bernie Sanders stood in support of Obamacare Tuesday even while saying the bill doesn’t go nearly far enough.
Sanders, an Independent who caucuses with Senate Democrats, reiterated his support of a universal single-payer Medicare for all, inspired by health care programs in Europe. On CNN’s Crossfire, he called the Affordable Care Act that Congress passed in 2010 a “good Republican program,” referring to the Massachusetts program introduced by former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney that served as the blueprint for what has come to be known as Obamacare.
WASHINGTON (CNN) - Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham continued their all-out verbal assault on the Obama administration's handling of the Syria crisis, disparaging Saturday's U.S.-Russian agreement as "morally and strategically indefensible."
"It requires a willful suspension of disbelief to see this agreement as anything other than the start of a diplomatic blind alley," the senators said in a joint statement, "and the Obama administration is being led into it by Bashar Assad and Vladimir Putin."
(CNN) - Republican Sen. John McCain, who met with President Barack Obama on Monday, said the president would "seriously consider" sending weapons to the rebel forces in Syria on top of a military strike against the country's regime.
"That means providing them not only weapons but the kind of weapons they need: anti-armor and anti-air. AK-47s don't do very well against tanks, so we discussed that and that that would be a course of action that the president would seriously consider, I guess is the best way to describe it," the Arizona Republican said Tuesday on CNN's "New Day."
