Washington (CNN) – Former Bush White House aide Scott Stanzel is flirting with a Republican Senate bid in Washington state to take on incumbent Democratic Sen. Maria Cantwell in the 2012 election.

Despite his years of service inside the beltway, Stanzel said the economic failures in Washington, D.C. are on his side, an argument that closely matches those of GOP party officials.
