Foley: 'Uniqueness' of internet trapped him, Weiner

Washington (CNN) - Disgraced former Republican Rep. Mark Foley suggested Thursday that embattled Rep. Anthony Weiner might be better served if he left Congress.

Foley resigned from Congress in 2006 after sexually explicit emails to teenage congressional pages he sent were exposed. In his first nationally televised interview since the scandal, the former Florida congressman lent advice to Weiner, who admitted engaging in inappropriate online activity with women outside his marriage after initially denying the accusations.

Foley speaks to Young Republicans in Florida

Washington (CNN) - Mark Foley may have departed the House of Representatives under a cloud of controversy in 2006, but the former Republican congressman is slowly reentering the political game in Florida.

Foley, who resigned from the House when it was revealed he sent lewd messages to male congressional pages, headlined a meeting of the Palm Beach County Young Republicans last week. According to the group's president, Foley was met with a warm response.
