Boehner's tepid support for Sanford

Washington (CNN) - After endorsing former Rep Mark Sanford last month in the special congressional election in South Carolina, House Speaker John Boehner appeared to distance himself Tuesday from the controversial former governor, saying "the electorate gets to decide" who their representatives in Congress are.

Sanford gained notoriety in 2009 when while serving as South Carolina's governor he disappeared from public view and his aides said he was hiking the Appalachian Trail. He later admitted he was in Argentina visiting his mistress.

In South Carolina politics, two very different campaign styles

Charleston, South Carolina (CNN) – The race for the open U.S. House seat in South Carolina's special election Tuesday showcases two very different candidates with two very different campaign styles.

Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch is criss-crossing the district in a fully wrapped tour bus with her name plastered along the outside. It's a look that evokes a presidential campaign. She travels with an entourage that, this weekend, included Jon Bauman, better known as Bowzer from the rock group Sha Na Na. He goes with her to rallies and sings a few chords from "Blue Moon," ending with "Vote for Colbert Busch" in his booming low voice.

Fast forward to 2013 and the former governor is now divorced from his wife and engaged to Chapur, and he's seeking political redemption as he runs for a vacant House seat that he once held for three terms. Sanford's been very open about the affair on the campaign trail making it the subject of his first political ad.
