Daniels elected top Boilermaker

(CNN) - Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels was elected the next president of Purdue University Thursday by the school's board of trustees.

They voted unanimously on a motion to elect the two-term governor the 12th president of the 143-year-old institution, whose sports teams are nicknamed the "Boilermakers," after a year-long search.

Daniels, Walker want Romney to go bold

(CNN) - Two leading Republicans and top supporters of Mitt Romney offered the candidate some advice Sunday, saying the presumptive GOP presidential nominee had some work to do in strengthening his message.

Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, often mentioned as a possible GOP vice presidential pick, told "Fox News Sunday" that Romney needed to offer a bold, affirmative agenda.

Boehner names potential VP picks

(CNN) - House Speaker John Boehner named three Republicans as potential vice presidential picks for Mitt Romney, but said there is a "long list" of qualified candidates.

The top Republican in Congress said Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio and Gov. Mitch Daniels of Indiana fit his criteria that the pick be capable of serving as president.

More versions of 'no' issued in speculation over Romney's VP

Washington (CNN) - Politicians played hot potato with the No. 2 spot on the Republican presidential ticket on Sunday, with the latest round of prominent Republicans closing the door at varying degrees to serving as presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney's vice president.

While the Republican Party lines up behind Romney after divisions emerged in the primaries, the chatter has increasingly turned to the man or woman the former Massachusetts governor will tap to run alongside him during the general election.

Daniels would call for VP 'reconsideration'

(CNN) – Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels took his opposition to running for vice president in 2012 to new heights on Sunday, saying he would “demand reconsideration” if asked to assume the No. 2 position on the Republican ticket.

“I think I would demand reconsideration and send Mr. Romney a list of people I think could suit better,” Daniels said on “Fox News Sunday.”

Daniels offers tough love for Romney

(CNN) – Republican Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels had some advice for Mitt Romney this week, describing the likely Republican nominee's campaign for the White House as too negative.

"You have to campaign to govern, not just to win," Daniels said an in interview published Thursday with the Indianapolis Star.

Romney gets big endorsement before big speech

(CNN) - Mitt Romney got another expected but key endorsement Wednesday before heading to North Carolina to speak in the city where Democrats will nominate President Barack Obama for a second term later this year.

Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, at one time considered a possible strong contender for the Republican presidential nomination, said on Fox News that he was backing the former Massachusetts governor.

Daniels lines up behind Romney

(CNN) - Gov. Mitch Daniels of Indiana became the latest establishment Republican to back all-but-declared GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

"He's already won our nomination, he earned it," Daniels said on Fox News Wednesday. "He's proven himself the best nominee we can put forward, and I'm just happy to sign on and help."

Bachmann: GOP is extremely ‘pro-women’

(CNN) - Former Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann on Sunday railed against critics who say the recent birth control controversy reflects a Republican Party that holds suppressive views toward women.

“There is no anti-women move whatsoever. The Republican Party is extremely pro-women,” Bachmann said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “What we saw was President Obama's signature piece of legislation, which is ‘Obamacare,’ demonstrated 3-D.”
