
Washington (CNN) - The top Republican Party official on Saturday urged conservatives to unite behind his plan to revitalize the party and deliver electoral success in the upcoming midterm and presidential elections.
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said the party must avoid the situation of 2012 GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, where he was left sitting as a "duck on the pond."

(CNN) – Real-estate mogul Donald Trump said Friday night that Mitt Romney's team asked him to appear in a "commercial" for the campaign last year–but it never saw the light of day.
The video, he said, was supposed to run during the Republican National Convention and featured Trump sitting in his office with an actor who looked like President Obama. After telling the faux president "what a lousy job" he's done, Trump said, he delivered his famous line to the actor: "You're fired!"

(CNN) - Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney said he has no ill will towards Gov. Chris Christie and weighed in on other flashbacks from the 2012 campaign in a wide-ranging interview with CNN Chief Political Analyst Gloria Borger.

(CNN) – Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney said he was "very upset" for making the "47%" comments that became a big roadblock in his campaign last year in the final months before Election Day.
"There were a number of times that I said things that - that didn't come out right," he said in an interview with CNN Chief Political Analyst Gloria Borger.

Park City, Utah (CNN) – As Mitt Romney begins to re-emerge into the public spotlight with a Utah conference, the former Republican presidential nominee told CNN Chief Political Analyst Gloria Borger he was disappointed with President Obama's pick of UN Ambassador Susan Rice to be his next national security adviser.
"I find that a disappointing appointment on the part of the president. I think what she did was to very seriously mislead the American people about what happened in Benghazi. My greatest concern about the Benghazi events was the fact there was not a rescue effort attempted and that is very troubling to me," Romney said.

Washington (CNN) - Saying "our intent is to do a better job," Gallup Editor-in-chief Frank Newport spelled out four main reasons why his organization's surveys understated President Barack Obama's support in the 2012 presidential election.
And at a news conference at Gallup's offices in the nation's capital Tuesday, Newport outlined the experiments the country's oldest and best known polling organization has already taken - and steps it will continue to take later this year - to understand why its surveys had a pro-Republican bias and how to correct the situation.

(CNN) – The last two Republican presidential nominees were reunited this weekend to celebrate the wedding of Sen. John McCain's son, a Navy helicopter pilot, in San Francisco.
Jack McCain married Renee Swift, who herself is an Air Force Reserve captain, on Saturday. The night before, Romney was pictured alongside McCain's daughter Meghan at the rehearsal dinner, looking relaxed in a wooden bead necklace and a shirt adorned with hula dancers.

(CNN) – No presidential campaign is perfect, Ann Romney admitted Thursday - even her husband's bid for the White House in 2012.
Speaking solo for the first time since November's election loss, Romney said on CBS she had no personal regrets from last year's effort, but conceded there were things everyone would have liked to do differently.

(CNN) – Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney appeared on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno on Friday and weighed in on the barrage of controversies plaguing the White House in recent weeks.
The former Massachusetts governor said he's “over” the election but is "not a fan of the president." He said a special counsel should be appointed to investigate the Obama administration and the IRS’ targeting of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status.

Washington (CNN) – A new Census Bureau report shows a higher percentage of African-Americans than whites voted in a presidential election for the first time in history last year during the matchup between President Obama and GOP nominee Mitt Romney.
The report, released Wednesday, found that more than 66% of eligible blacks voted in the presidential contest. Only 64.1% of whites turned out to vote.
