The Romney video that never was–starring Donald Trump

Updated 9:15 p.m., Friday, 6/14

(CNN) – Real-estate mogul Donald Trump said Friday night that Mitt Romney's team asked him to appear in a "commercial" for the campaign last year–but it never saw the light of day.

The video, he said, was supposed to run during the Republican National Convention and featured Trump sitting in his office with an actor who looked like President Obama. After telling the faux president "what a lousy job" he's done, Trump said, he delivered his famous line to the actor: "You're fired!"

Mitt Romney to CNN: Rice appointment ‘disappointing’

Park City, Utah (CNN) – As Mitt Romney begins to re-emerge into the public spotlight with a Utah conference, the former Republican presidential nominee told CNN Chief Political Analyst Gloria Borger he was disappointed with President Obama's pick of UN Ambassador Susan Rice to be his next national security adviser.

"I find that a disappointing appointment on the part of the president. I think what she did was to very seriously mislead the American people about what happened in Benghazi. My greatest concern about the Benghazi events was the fact there was not a rescue effort attempted and that is very troubling to me," Romney said.

Washington (CNN) - Saying "our intent is to do a better job," Gallup Editor-in-chief Frank Newport spelled out four main reasons why his organization's surveys understated President Barack Obama's support in the 2012 presidential election.

And at a news conference at Gallup's offices in the nation's capital Tuesday, Newport outlined the experiments the country's oldest and best known polling organization has already taken - and steps it will continue to take later this year - to understand why its surveys had a pro-Republican bias and how to correct the situation.
