Pelosi threatens House vote on tax bill

(CNN) - Warning that "the clock is ticking," House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi on Sunday reiterated her threat to bring about a House vote on a bill that would extend the Bush-era tax cuts for families making $250,000, but would allow the tax breaks to expire for those above the threshold.

The Democratic-controlled Senate already passed its version of the bill in July, with strong support from President Barack Obama.

Boehner, Pelosi team up for Speaker Tip O'Neill tribute

Washington (CNN) - It was Tip O'Neill who coined the phrase "all politics is local."

So it's somehow fitting that Congress is looking to commemorate the 34-year congressional career of the former House speaker by making an office building on the edge of Capitol Hill his namesake.

House Democratic women's numbers don't yet add up to power

Washington (CNN) - When House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi announced that she would seek to keep her leadership role she stood flanked by a cheering phalanx of her female colleagues.

Pelosi, who prior to the Democratic Party's loss of the House in 2010 served as its first female speaker, sandwiched her announcement between pointed comments about the Democratic agenda and how she sees her party's policies as helpful to women. Pelosi said she would vie to keep her leadership role "in order to continue work on empowering women."

Pelosi intends to remain Democratic leader

Washington (CNN) – After keeping colleagues and most of her aides in the dark about her post-election plans for more than a week, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi finally told House Democrats she intended to run again for her post. The official vote isn't until after Thanksgiving, but Pelosi will likely get overwhelming support from her colleagues.

After Pelosi revealed her plans at a closed-door caucus meeting on Wednesday, House Democrats cheered loudly and chants of "two more years" erupted in the room, according to several sources in attendance.

First on CNN: Pelosi to run again for Democratic leader

(CNN) - House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is asking Democrats to keep her in the position for the next session of Congress beginning in January, Democratic sources told CNN Wednesday.

One Democratic source close to Pelosi said she would "continue to lead a united Democratic Caucus that will play a crucial role in developing a responsible deficit reduction package – working with President Obama and our colleagues in the Senate – that protects Social Security and Medicare, the middle class and children, while asking the wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share."

CNN's Dana Bash and Deirdre Walsh contributed to this report.

Pelosi's guessing game

Washington (CNN) – Will she or won't she? Since last Tuesday's elections, speculation has swirled on Capitol Hill about whether House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi would run for another term as leader or whether she would step aside.

Pelosi played coy with reporters as Congress returned for the lame duck session, holding a press conference Tuesday with the large group of newly elected Democrats, but then telling the press she wouldn't make an announcement until Wednesday morning.

Pelosi blasts GOP calls for State Department probe

(CNN) – House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi blasted House Republicans Tuesday for requesting a hearing next week on the State Department's handling of last month's deadly consulate attack in Libya.

With Congress in recess for the campaign season, Pelosi argued on CNN's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer" that if the GOP wants to look into the Libya issue, they should return for votes on other pending legislation, as well.
