
(CNN) – Former presidential candidate Newt Gingrich on Thursday lamented the use of super PACs in modern campaigning, predicting a "mess" they will create in the fall campaign.
"I think you watch this fall, between the Obama super PACs, the Romney super PACs, the conservative super PACs, the liberal super PACs, it's going to be a mess and people are going to be sick of it," Gingrich said on MSNBC. "It's really unfortunate. It's not the way a great nation should govern itself."

(CNN) – Newt Gingrich, speaking outside an event raising money for presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, said the event's host, Donald Trump, was not distracting the Republican Party with his questions about the president's birth certificate.
"Gov. Romney's not distracted," Gingrich said in Las Vegas. "The Republican Party's not distracted. We believe that this is an American-born job-killing president. Other people may believe that he was born somewhere else and still kills jobs, but that's an argument over background."

Las Vegas (CNN) - Mitt Romney met with Sheldon Adelson - a man who, for many months, helped keep Newt Gingrich's campaign afloat - in Las Vegas Tuesday, a campaign aide confirmed.
They convened at Adelson's office at the Venetian Hotel, where the executive offices of the Las Vegas Sands are located, according to a source with knowledge of the meeting. The meeting involved the two men and a small group of aides, and lasted more than 45 minutes.

"Raise a lot of money," Gingrich told the rising Democrat on NBC's "Meet the Press." "It's the entry level problem. You've got to be prepared."

The event will take place Tuesday at Trump's International Hotel on the Strip. Romney's campaign is also raffling a chance to have dinner with Trump for supporters who donate to the campaign.

(CNN) - Having levied his own criticisms of Mitt Romney's background leading the private equity firm Bain Capital, Newt Gingrich has a warning for President Barack Obama's campaign: the issue is fair game, but be wary.
"We found out when we got in a fight with Mitt Romney over this that it didn't work," he said Monday on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight," after an Obama surrogate on Sunday called political discourse on both sides of the aisle "nauseating."

Washington (CNN) – While Mitt Romney’s major challengers suspended their campaigns and the primary season essentially ended in April, donations to the super PAC supporting Romney's candidacy and its spending slowed down as well, according to a monthly financial report filed Sunday with the Federal Election Commission.
Restore Our Future brought in $4,608,000 in donations in April and spent $2,852,000, compared to March when the PAC received $8,680,000 in donations and spent $12,722,000.

(CNN) – Newt Gingrich ended his campaign earlier this month with nearly $4.8 million in campaign debt, according to a report filed with the Federal Election Commission that reflected campaign activity through the end of April.
Debts of $1 million to a charter airline company, $466,370 for security services, $181,977 for public relations consulting and $165,000 for web advertising were among the largest single figures owed. The filing also listed a debt of $580,134 to Gingrich himself for travel expenses.

(CNN) – In his first campaign swing for Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich this weekend called for party unity and a need to rally behind the likely GOP presidential nominee.
"We're now all on the same team, period," Gingrich said at the Georgia GOP convention Friday, according to the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer.
