(CNN) – Lawmakers had varying opinions Sunday on whether the United States should supply Syrian rebel forces with weapons now that the situation has escalated with Syria accusing Israel, a close U.S. ally, of launching rockets into the country.
While some argued President Barack Obama should continue weighing his options, others, like Sen. John McCain, said the U.S. should have intervened militarily a long time ago.

(CNN) – Customs officials have not had the technology to determine whether foreign students entering the United States were in compliance with their visas, Rep. Peter King, former chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union."
"There should be a way to correct this. The problem (officials) will tell you is there are 850,000 student visas, and there's an I-20 form which certifies whether or not that person is still in compliance with the requirements of the visa," said King, R-New York. "And unfortunately, it does not appear the technology is there to marry them up, and I think it's inexcusable."

(CNN) – The decision to read Miranda rights to Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev in the midst of an interrogation was called “disgraceful” Sunday by a leading Republican, who took aim at U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder for not opposing the decision.
U.S. Rep. Peter King, R-New York, told CNN he “totally disagreed” with the decision of a magistrate judge to administer the rights during a hearing last Monday, more than two days after Tsarnaev was captured in Watertown, Massachusetts. On Saturday, Holder told CNN the move was “totally consistent” and appropriate.

(CNN) - Rep. Peter King has his doubts the two young men accused of bombing the Boston Marathon last week launched their attack without some help.
“I just find it very hard to believe that two individuals such as this could have obtained the weapons, the explosives, put it all together, arranged this on their own,” the New York Republican said Thursday on CNN’s “The Lead with Jake Tapper.” “I believe that there were other people involved domestically, either as active conspirators or as facilitators who knew what was going on and said nothing and looked the other way.”

“This guy didn’t rob a liquor store. He wasn’t working for the Mafia,” Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, said Saturday on Fox News. “My God, they were at war with us, we need to be at war within our values and within our laws.”

(CNN) – Republican Rep. Peter King, former chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said Friday the Chechen community in the United States doesn't have a history of radicalization but argued it's time to question whether that's changed.
In an interview on CNN's "The Lead with Jake Tapper," the longtime congressman from New York also said it was "offensive" for the parents of the two suspected bombers to argue their sons were being framed in the U.S.

(CNN) – A top House Republican influential on homeland security matters said cutting federal spending for local law enforcement can have serious consequences for fighting terrorism.

(CNN) - The Republican Party appears split over whether to block gun legislation in the Senate.
While more than a dozen GOP senators have stated they plan to block the proposed bill from proceeding, a number of Republicans are saying the public deserves to hear debate over the legislation. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has also vowed to oppose the bill as it now stands.

(CNN) - The United States would be right to launch a military strike against North Korea if there is "solid evidence" that it plans to attack America or South Korea, a congressional Republican influential on national security matters said on Tuesday.
"If we have good reason to believe there's going to be an attack, I believe we have the right to take preemptive action," Rep. Peter King of New York said on CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront."
