The criminal complaint against Ahmed Abu Khatallah was filed nearly a year ago, and he was nabbed two weeks ago in eastern Libya. He appeared in a federal court in Washington on Saturday – much to some Republicans’ chagrin.
(CNN) - An on-going feud playing out in the Republican Party between lawmakers Rep. Peter King and Sen. Ted Cruz sounds like the very beginning of a GOP presidential primary battle.
Perhaps underscoring an establishment v. tea party division the GOP, King, a longtime congressman from New York, said Wednesday Cruz "has decided to be the center of his own universe" after the conservative powerhouse from Texas dismissed King's criticism of his style of politics.
(CNN) - Rep. Peter King said Friday he warned Hillary Clinton that she should prepare for a potential presidential showdown.
The longtime congressman from New York is still considering a White House bid and has traveled to New Hampshire, which holds the first-in-the-nation primary, to try and make inroads with voters.
(CNN) - The former chairman of the House Homeland Security committee is urging the United States and others not to negotiate with Boko Haram, the terrorist group in Nigeria that has kidnapped nearly 300 schoolgirls.
Instead, Rep. Peter King, R-New York, said he would support President Obama if he were to send U.S. special forces to rescue them.
Two international events filled the Sunday political talk shows: Russian President Vladimir Putin’s next move in Crimea and Ukraine and the mystery surrounding the bizarre and puzzling disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.
If you missed any of the Sunday political chatter, we've got you covered:
(CNN) – The Russian ambassador to the U.S. said Sunday he’s “absolutely certain” the Olympic Games in Sochi next month will be safe from terrorist attacks. He pushed back against reports of a “black widow” threat.
“There was a report of some notice that (was) circulated as a kind of lookout information. It doesn't necessarily mean that there is an immediate threat,” Sergey Kislyak said in an exclusive interview on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
(CNN) – Members of Congress are split on whether to rein in the National Security Agency's surveillance activities after intelligence leaks revealed the extent of the government's data-collection program.
A review of NSA surveillance practices ordered by the White House recommended changes to the program including greater judicial oversight and more public transparency in the collection of metadata. And a U.S. district judge said that the mass collection of phone records was probably unconstitutional.
(CNN) - Rep. Peter King said fellow Republican Sen. Rand Paul owes the nation’s top intelligence official an apology after saying he should resign for “lying” to a Senate committee about a controversial surveillance program.
The New York congressman also said that Paul's comparison of National Intelligence Director James Clapper to NSA leaker Edward Snowden is "absolutely disgraceful."
(CNN) - Republican Rep. Peter King on Monday unveiled a Political Action Committee called "American Leadership Now" aimed at supporting moderate voices within the Republican Party.
King of New York was in the early primary state of New Hampshire to speak with conservative groups.
He told CNN the location for the unveiling of the PAC was not a coincidence.
Washington (CNN) – New York Rep. Peter King is headed to New Hampshire later this month on a trip that includes a meeting with a well-placed Republican operative and a speech to a group that aims to elect local Republicans.
King, whose name has been thrown around as a possible Republican candidate in 2016, told CNN in an interview that he is only traveling to the crucial primary state “as a national politician” and will not be “asking for anyone’s endorsement or for donations.”
