CNN 2016 Poll: Clinton favored for Democrats; no clear GOP leader

Washington (CNN) - A new national poll in the battle for the 2016 Democratic and Republican presidential nominations indicates what you would expect: Hillary Clinton is the overwhelming Democratic frontrunner, and there's no real leader among the possible GOP White House hopefuls.

But if you get beyond the obvious, the CNN/ORC International survey released Monday becomes more revealing.

CNN Instant Poll: Did Obama move the needle on Syria?

Washington (CNN) – A majority of Americans who watched President Barack Obama's prime time address to the nation on Tuesday said they favor the approach to Syria that the president spelled out in his speech, according to an instant poll.

But an exclusive CNN/ORC International survey of speech-watchers conducted immediately after the conclusion of Obama's address also indicates that those who tuned into the address were split on whether the president made the case for military action against Syria.

Obama hits new low on foreign policy in CNN polling

Washington (CNN) – One day before President Barack Obama gives a prime time speech to make his case against Syria, a new national poll indicates the president's approval rating on foreign policy has hit an all-time low. And only three in ten approve of how he is handling Syria.

But according to a CNN/ORC International survey, the number of Americans who approve of how Obama is handling his job in general remains steady.

CNN Poll: Why it's not worth attacking Syria

Washington (CNN) - A majority of Americans don't think it is worth attacking Syria militarily just to punish the regime of Bashar al-Assad over alleged chemical weapons use, according to a new national poll.

The CNN/ORC International survey released Monday also indicates that a majority of respondents worry U.S. intervention in the Syrian civil war might lead to wider conflict in the region that could involve the use of American troops and trigger new chemical attacks, possibly against the United States at home.

Poll: Majority backs same-sex marriage

(CNN) - As the Supreme Court gears up to announce decisions Wednesday on two high-profile cases involving same-sex marriage, a recent poll indicates a growing number of Americans support the right for same-sex couples to legally marry.

According to the CNN/ORC International survey, a majority–55%–of Americans back same-sex marriage, up 11 percentage points from 2008. The same poll indicates 44% oppose the issue.

Washington (CNN) - As the Supreme Court gets ready to issue opinions on some high profile and contentious cases, a new national poll indicates Americans are split on whether the high court is doing a good job.

According to a CNN/ORC International survey released Thursday morning, 48% of the public say they approve of the job the Supreme Court's doing, with an equal amount saying they disapprove.

CNN Poll: You hired them but disapprove of their work

Washington (CNN) – It's nothing to brag about.

According to a new national poll, just 16% of Americans approve of the way Congress is handling its job, with 83% of those questioned in a CNN/ORC International survey saying they disapprove. The poll was released Tuesday.

CNN Poll: Big generational divide in immigration battle

Washington (CNN) - While a small majority of Americans are in favor of the immigration bill currently before the U.S. Senate, according to a new national poll the old and young don't see eye to eye on the issue.

And a CNN/ORC International survey also indicates that more than six in ten say border security rather than a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants should be the bigger priority.
