Charlotte, North Carolina (CNN) - Reince Priebus pledged to grow his party by making direct appeals to minority and young voters as well as dedicating campaign resources to try and win in traditional Democratic states, as members of the Republican National Committee re-elected him Friday to a second two-year term at their Winter Meeting.
"We must compete in every state and every region, building relationships with communities we haven't before," he said. "At the RNC, we are dropping red and blue analysis. We must be a party concerned about every American in every neighborhood."

(CNN) - “We must stop being the stupid party.” “We must stop looking backward.” “We must stop insulting the intelligence of voters.”
Gov. Bobby Jindal held little back with his sharp words to Republicans Thursday evening, urging his own party to rethink their arguments against Democrats and appeals to voters in his remarks to party members attending the Republican National Committee’s Winter Meeting.

Charlotte, North Carolina (CNN) – A task force charged with identifying winning political strategies and broadening the GOP's appeal with minority voters will deliver its recommendations in March to the Republican National Committee on what steps the party needs to take going forward.
"We have real challenges and we did get whipped," in the 2012 election, Mississippi National Committeeman Henry Barbour said at the RNC's Winter Meeting in Charlotte. "That is not something we take lightly."

Washington (CNN) -- The chair, perhaps the most famous chair in political history, stands in the office of a large, nondescript cement building just a stone's throw away from the U.S. Capitol.
That's right, the chair Clint Eastwood used as a prop in his rambling and at times incoherent critique of President Barack Obama at the Republican National Convention is now one of the many pieces of political memorabilia in Reince Priebus' spacious office on First Street in Washington.
FULL STORYWashington (CNN) – Days after President Barack Obama is sworn-in for a second term, Republican leaders from across the country will assemble in the southern city where Obama accepted his party’s presidential nomination in September to strategize a path forward for the GOP in a nation experiencing major demographic shifts.
It will be a three-day discussion focused primarily on how to grow the Republican Party by convincing black, Hispanic and Asian voters that the GOP better represents their values than the Democratic Party, according to a party official involved in the planning of the Republican National Committee’s winter meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

(CNN) -- Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus said while the party's committee is not an organization to recommend policy changes to Congress, he believes messaging plays an important role and anticipates a more 'granular' approach to presenting GOP policies.
Priebus, who told RNC members in a letter last week he would seek re-election as the committee's leader, has said his party is planning an "autopsy" to locate areas where the GOP struggled to gain support in last month's elections.

(CNN) – Former Rep. J.C. Watts, who has indicated interest in running for the Republican National Committee chairmanship, suggested he could help his party build relationships with diverse voters. RNC members, however, have dismissed the idea of Watts unseating chairman Reince Priebus with skepticism, disbelief and even a hint of ridicule.
“I think God likes diversity. So if it’s good for God it ought to be good for Republicans,” he said on CNN’s “Erin Burnett OutFront.” “But the fact is its hard to have perspective and it’s hard to have diversity with women or black or red or yellow or brown or white if you have no relationships.
“And if I don't know the chairman of the Republican National Committee, I have no confidence that he has any relationship” with black, white, or Hispanic voters, he said.
(CNN) - While many Republicans have already diagnosed their party's problems after the presidential loss earlier this month, the chairman of the Republican National Committee is saying not so fast.
"I don't think you can draw any quick conclusions other than the fact that we lost and we know that," Reince Priebus said Tuesday on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight," the chairman's first television interview since the election. "But in order to get back in the game, you've got to look at and do a full autopsy of what happened."

At the RNC meeting in January, the group will vote on the chairmanship position. Priebus has told members he intends to run for another term, and sources say he will likely win re-election despite the party's losses this cycle.
