Aiken: 'Buck has to stop' with Obama on VA

(CNN) – American Idol star turned congressional nominee Clay Aiken called the Department of Veterans Affairs "unwieldy," and said President Barack Obama is ultimately responsible for holding the VA accountable.

Asked by CNN's Brooke Baldwin on Wednesday whether the President should take a more hands-on approach to dealing the growing controversy, Aiken said, "I certainly think the President is responsible for it at the end of the day."

(CNN) - President Barack Obama continued to put pressure on Republicans on Saturday to extend unemployment benefits while Republican Rep. Renee Ellmers of North Carolina heaped criticism on the Affordable Care Act.

GOP Rep: Shutdown ‘the last thing we need’

(CNN) – Hours before the midnight deadline, Rep. Renee Ellmers, R-North Carolina, remained confident that the federal government would not shut down.

"That's the last thing we need," said the chair of the Republican Women's Policy Committee in an interview on CNN's "New Day." But Republican priorities extend beyond that, added Ellmers.

Etheridge concedes race

(CNN) – Democratic Rep. Bob Etheridge has conceded to Republican Renee Ellmers in the race for the 2nd District seat of North Carolina after a recount of ballots showed Ellmers ahead.
