
(CNN) - The Republican National Committee called on President Barack Obama to dismiss Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner Monday.
RNC Chairman Reince Priebus blamed Obama and Geithner for Standard & Poor's downgrade Friday, saying the administration's "failure to cut the debt" and lower spending over the years directly caused the unprecedented blow to the U.S. credit rating.

Tampa, Florida (CNN) - With the 2012 GOP primary calendar looking more fragile with each passing day, the Republican National Committee is now considering more drastic penalties for states threatening to hold early primary contests in violation of party rules.
Multiple states, including Florida, Colorado, Arizona and Michigan, are debating whether to hold early caucuses or primaries in hopes of wielding greater influence over the Republican presidential nomination process.

(CNN) - A new ad from the Republican National Committee Wednesday blames President Obama's "left turn after left turn" for the current state of the economy.
The 30-second spot will air nationally on cable television, notably in battleground states, throughout the month. It uses a crashing car metaphor to make the case for a Republican president in 2012.

(CNN) - Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus called for the resignation of Rep. Anthony Weiner Tuesday, becoming the first major official to urge on Weiner to leave office.
"Congressman Weiner's actions and deception are unacceptable and he should resign," Priebus said in a statement. "We do not need an investigation to know he lied and acted inappropriately, we need a resignation."

Dallas (CNN) – GOP leaders from around the country who gathered in Dallas this week for a meeting of the Republican National Committee view their field of 2012 presidential contenders as unsettled, unpredictable and perhaps a bit uninspiring.
But there was also consensus at the meeting that their eventual nominee won't have to worry about galvanizing Republican support in the general election, a dilemma the party faced in 2008 when the GOP was burdened by an unpopular president and a nominee, Arizona Sen. John McCain, who had a famously rocky relationship with conservatives.

Washington (CNN) - The chairman of the Republican Party of Florida says he's open to moving his state's primary date from the first to the fifth position on the 2012 presidential nominating calendar.
The statement Thursday night by RPOF Chairman Dave Bitner came hours after the South Carolina and Iowa Republican parties demanded that the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa be re-located to a different state unless Florida Republicans move their presidential primary to a later date.

(CNN) – Newly-installed Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus has a $23-million hole to dig out of, according to a year-end report the organization filed with the Federal Elections Commission.
According to the official report, the committee has over $21 million debt with about $700,000 cash-on-hand. But in a statement Monday Priebus acknowledged the RNC’s cash woes are even worse than the report reflects.

Steele revealed his intentions in a lengthy private conference call with RNC members, several of whom relayed the news to CNN.

Washington (CNN) - Gentry Collins, the Republican National Committee's ex-political director, will enter the race to replace Chairman Michael Steele on Monday, sources close to Collins told CNN.
Collins, a veteran political operative, resigned his RNC post last month with a blistering letter to Steele which accused the controversial chairman of poor financial oversight that may have cost the GOP several House seats in the midterm elections.

(CNN) – As he contemplates reelection for a second term heading up the Republican National Committee, Michael Steele is lashing out at fellow members of his party who he says "don't want me in this job."
"They don't want me in this job, to put it rather bluntly," Steele told NPR Monday. "That has been a concerted effort since I got the job."
