(CNN) - The Republican National Committee said this week it has cut ties with a consulting firm that Florida election officials say may have filed falsified voter registration paperwork.

Palm Beach County, Florida, Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher told CNN that her office has called into question as many as 106 voter registration applications that were turned in by someone connected to Strategic Allied Consulting. Fred Petti, an attorney for the firm, said the employee involved in the questionable signatures was "fired immediately."

Rove unloads on Todd Akin on eve of GOP convention

Tampa, Florida (CNN) - Republican strategist Karl Rove ramped up his criticism of Missouri candidate Todd Akin on Monday, calling his recent remarks about rape and abortion "morally incomprehensible" and insisting that he drop out of the race.

"I know Todd. He is a good man and he's got a good heart," Rove said at a breakfast in Tampa hosted by Politico. "He said a really stupid, indefensible thing from which there is no recovery and if he really cares are about the values of conservatism and pro-life, he will not go down for defeat as the biggest loss by a Republican candidate for Senate in modern history."

Priebus: RNC won't support Akin in Senate race

(CNN) - Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus further urged Rep. Todd Akin to drop his U.S. Senate bid in Missouri, saying Tuesday the party is already halting its efforts to back the congressman.

"We're not going to send any money toward that race or spend money on the ground in that particular race. We're obviously going to work very hard for a nominee in Missouri up and down the ticket, congressional seats. But I've already called off the phone banks and all of the volunteers for Congressman Akin's race there," Priebus said on CNN's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer."
