Perry: 2016 ‘certainly an option’

(CNN) – Texas Gov. Rick Perry isn’t ready to reveal his political future, but he’s not ruling out another bid for the White House in 2016.
Perry will announce what’s ahead in his political career at an event on Monday in San Antonio.

Asked on “Fox News Sunday” about the possibility of his candidacy in 2016, Perry said, “Certainly that's an option out there, but again, we’ve got a lot of work to do in this building right behind me over the course of the next couple weeks that have my focus substantially, more than even 2014 or 2016."

Can Rick Perry overcome last presidential run?

(CNN) – Texas Gov. Rick Perry has found himself squarely in the middle of the national political conversation as he clashes with Democrats over a restrictive anti-abortion bill that has drawn thousands of protesters to Austin.

The high-profile showdown - Perry this week called a second special legislative session to revive the abortion bill after Democrats blocked it with a filibuster engineered by state Sen. Wendy Davis - has re-focused attention on his national ambitions and raised the prospect that he might again run for president, even after his 2012 campaign flamed out in spectacular fashion.

Perry blames abortion rights activists for 'absolute anarchy'

(CNN) – Texas Gov. Rick Perry said he expects the state legislature to finish their work as early as next week in a special session held in part to vote on restrictive abortion legislation.

But the Republican governor cautioned that there won't be the same "turmoil" and "mob rule" from protesters in the public gallery as there was last week.

Wendy Davis: Perry has ‘demeaned’ the office he holds

(CNN) - Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis, who rose to national fame this week after her 13-hour filibuster in the state legislature, said she was not angry with the deeply personal criticism leveled against her by Republican Gov. Rick Perry, but said his comments were “symptomatic” of his perspective on women’s issues.

“I didn’t have an angry response to it on behalf of myself,” she said Friday on CNN’s “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.” “I think it just demonstrated the typical attitude that Governor Perry has expressed toward the issue. He’s demeaned the high office that he holds by saying things like that.”

Davis shrugs off Perry's scolding

(CNN) - The deeply personal criticism that Texas Gov. Rick Perry leveled at state Sen. Wendy Davis Thursday diminished the position he holds, she said in an interview Friday.

Speaking at a national "Right to Life" conference in Dallas, Perry took aim at Davis' own background, claiming she had learned the wrong lessons from being born to a single mother and having her first daughter as a teenager.

Texas senator hijacked Democratic process, says Perry

(CNN) – The Texas state senator who filibustered a measure placing strict new curbs on abortion was operating outside the normal procedures for passing legislation, the state's Republican Gov. Rick Perry asserted Thursday.

Perry also claimed Democrat Wendy Davis was ignoring her own past as the daughter of a single mother in her bid to prevent abortion rights from being restricted in the Lone Star State.
