Washington (CNN) - Rick Perry is inviting close friends and supporters to an event next Monday in San Antonio where he is expected to announce if he plans to seek an unprecedented fourth full term as Texas governor, CNN has learned.
Perry "will be making an announcement around mid-day in San Antonio concerning his exciting future plans," according to a "Save the Date" email obtained Tuesday by CNN. The announcement comes as Perry finds himself at the center of a high-profile legislative fight over abortion rights in his state.
(CNN) - No movement is complete without memorabilia. Now, supporters of Planned Parenthood and state Sen. Wendy Davis' fight against new abortion restrictions in Texas have their own.
Planned Parenthood on Monday released a t-shirt available online that links the issue with NBC's "Friday Night Lights," a former hit TV show about a high school football team set in Dillon, Texas.
(CNN) – Texas Gov. Rick Perry said he expects the state legislature to finish their work as early as next week in a special session held in part to vote on restrictive abortion legislation.
But the Republican governor cautioned that there won't be the same "turmoil" and "mob rule" from protesters in the public gallery as there was last week.
(CNN) - Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis, who rose to national fame this week after her 13-hour filibuster in the state legislature, said she was not angry with the deeply personal criticism leveled against her by Republican Gov. Rick Perry, but said his comments were “symptomatic” of his perspective on women’s issues.
“I didn’t have an angry response to it on behalf of myself,” she said Friday on CNN’s “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.” “I think it just demonstrated the typical attitude that Governor Perry has expressed toward the issue. He’s demeaned the high office that he holds by saying things like that.”
(CNN) - The deeply personal criticism that Texas Gov. Rick Perry leveled at state Sen. Wendy Davis Thursday diminished the position he holds, she said in an interview Friday.
Speaking at a national "Right to Life" conference in Dallas, Perry took aim at Davis' own background, claiming she had learned the wrong lessons from being born to a single mother and having her first daughter as a teenager.
(CNN) – The Texas state senator who filibustered a measure placing strict new curbs on abortion was operating outside the normal procedures for passing legislation, the state's Republican Gov. Rick Perry asserted Thursday.
Perry also claimed Democrat Wendy Davis was ignoring her own past as the daughter of a single mother in her bid to prevent abortion rights from being restricted in the Lone Star State.
(CNN) - Texas Gov. Rick Perry called another special session of the state Legislature on Wednesday after a Democratic filibuster killed a bill that would have imposed strict new regulations on abortion providers in the state.

Washington (CNN) - Gov. Rick Perry of Texas made light at a major gathering of conservatives on Saturday of his sometimes rocky 2012 run for the White House.
"I've learned a little bit about humility particularly on national television," he quipped to laughter at the Faith and Freedom Coalition's annual conference, which is one of the largest gatherings of social conservatives.
(CNN) – Texas Gov. Rick Perry has been courting gun manufacturers in states that have enacted tougher gun laws, and next week, he's taking his message on the road.
Perry will travel to Connecticut and New York to meet with business leaders in the firearm industries, his office announced.
(CNN) - Deplaning in Austin, Texas, Thursday, President Barack Obama was greeted by Gov. Rick Perry, a Republican who made a bid for last year's GOP presidential nomination.
The focus of Thursday's visit is job growth - something Perry has touted as a chief accomplishment of his time in office. Speaking after greeting Obama, the governor said the president was smart to visit Austin.
"We are doing things right in Texas and I think the president is wise to come here and take a look at it," he said, noting Obama had recently visited the Lone Star state to attend a memorial service for the first responders killed in the West, Texas fertilizer plant explosion.
A vocal critic of Obama's, Perry most recently railed against the president's gun control proposals during last week's National Rifle Association annual meeting in Houston.
"I realize to those who don't understand the issue, gun laws may look like an easy fix, and might even make some of them feel like these laws do something to solve a problem. Except they don't fix anything. They may win a news cycle, or help our president score political points, but they do nothing but make it harder for law-abiding Americans to own guns," Perry said.
