(CNN) – As attention in Washington shifts to the surveillance activities of the National Security Agency, national Republicans are seeking to keep pressure on President Barack Obama's administration to explain their role in the IRS's targeting of conservative groups.
In a video released Monday, the Republican National Committee splices together clips of IRS officials testifying before Congress, appearing to withhold answers from lawmakers on who knew what about the targeting of groups applying for tax exempt status.
(CNN) – The Republican National Committee has brought on a director of evangelical outreach to massage the party's complicated relationship with religious conservatives, GOP sources told CNN on Saturday.
The party organization has hired Chad Connelly, a consultant and motivational speaker who, until this weekend, was the chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party.
Connelly resigned from that job Saturday and informed members of the state party's executive committee that he will be taking a job at the RNC.
(CNN) - While Friday's new employment numbers show the U.S. economy added 175,000 jobs in May, Americans are "still waiting for the recovery President Obama promised years ago," according to the Republican National Committee's chairman.

"Freedom of the press is an essential right in a free society. The First Amendment doesn't request the federal government to respect it; it demands it," Priebus wrote in a statement Tuesday. "Attorney General Eric Holder, in permitting the Justice Department to issue secret subpoenas to spy on Associated Press reporters, has trampled on the First Amendment and failed in his sworn duty to uphold the Constitution."
Los Angeles (CNN) – The Republican National Committee approved two resolutions Friday re-affirming the party's position on marriage, a move designed to mollify social conservatives angry at GOP leaders who have suggested Republicans tone down their rhetoric in opposition of same -sex marriage in order to appeal to younger voters.
The resolutions were approved by a voice vote as a larger package of 12 resolutions including one honoring former Texas Rep. Ron Paul. There was no opposition to passing all 12 resolutions en bloc.
Los Angeles (CNN) - Prominent social conservative Tony Perkins called on political activists Thursday evening to withhold contributions to Republican campaign committees, as the GOP is embroiled in a debate over social issues.
Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, made the request in an email to supporters of his organization, as members of the Republican National Committee met in California to discuss campaign strategy and political messaging.
Los Angeles (CNN) - Former Vice President Dick Cheney will address members of the Republican National Committee gathering here in California this week for strategy sessions on how to broaden the GOP’s appeal with voters.
It is unclear what topic Cheney will speak on, but this is the first formal gathering of national party members since RNC Chairman Reince Priebus issued a report last month examining all aspects of the national party, including what steps the GOP should take to reach out to new voters, specifically Asian Americans, blacks, Hispanics and young people.

His article - under the headline "Media Covers up Democrat-Backed Planned Parenthood's Support for Infanticide" - blasted the media for not covering the recent testimony of a Planned Parenthood representative in Florida, who provided veiled responses to questions from state lawmakers on what should happen to a baby born after a botched abortion.
