First on CNN: Republicans moving to overhaul 2016 primary process

Washington (CNN) – A handful of Republican Party officials is quietly advancing a new batch of rules aimed at streamlining a chaotic presidential nominating process that many party insiders viewed as damaging to the their campaign for the White House in 2012, multiple GOP sources told CNN.

Las Vegas makes formal bid to host 2016 RNC

(CNN) - What happens in Vegas … goes to the White House?

That's what the Nevada Host Committee, Inc. is hoping. The group has made a formal bid to bring the 2016 Republican National Convention to Las Vegas.

It may seem early to bid for a convention scheduled for three years from now but hosting a national convention is a major undertaking for any city, no matter how well equipped. The Republican National Committee usually makes its choice two years in advance.
