Portman stumps for Romney, 'so goes Colorado, so goes the nation'

(CNN) – Rob Portman, campaigning for Mitt Romney in Colorado on Wednesday, reminded supporters of the state's election-day importance saying, "so goes Colorado, so goes the nation" and invoked President Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign.

The Ohio senator is shadowing Obama's two-day, four-city swing in the state.

Washington (CNN) - Two top vice presidential contenders will campaign for Mitt Romney in battleground states, two Republican sources said.

Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio will go to Colorado on Wednesday, appearing as President Barack Obama arrives in the state for a two-day campaign swing. The Portman event is part of the Romney campaign "bracketing" strategy to counter Obama's message on trips.

Potential VPs to hit the trail with Romney

(CNN) – Mitt Romney will be joined by a trio of potential vice presidential picks on his upcoming bus tour through four battleground states, sources confirmed to CNN Monday.

The presumptive GOP nominee will stump with Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Ohio Sen. Rob Portman on his tour, which begins Saturday.

The slew of high-profile surrogates covered the country over the weekend hounding President Barack Obama for what they say is a failed economic and foreign policy, all the while singing Romney’s praise.

(CNN) – As Mitt Romney tours London on the first stop of his overseas trip, prominent surrogates for the presumptive GOP nominee are making their choices for his running mate known stateside.

House Speaker John Boehner said Thursday he was rooting for Sen. Rob Portman, who, like Boehner, represents Ohio.

Portman slams president for 'personal' attacks

(CNN) – GOP Sen. Rob Portman defended his party's presumptive presidential nominee Monday from President Barack Obama's "personal" attacks, saying the Democrat was focusing on Mitt Romney because his record falls short.

Portman, speaking in Lebanon, Ohio, was holding an event for Romney roughly two hours ahead of Obama's own campaign speech in nearly Cincinnati.

(CNN) - Both candidates are back on the campaign trail Monday. Mitt Romney heads to Louisiana for a fund-raiser, and President Barack Obama goes back to Ohio for campaign events in Cincinnati. Sen. Rob Portman, speculated to be a potential vice presidential choice for Romney, will counter Obama with his own event in nearby Lebanon.

Portman gets high-profile surrogate gig

(CNN) - Sen. Rob Portman, widely speculated to be a potential vice-presidential pick for Mitt Romney, will undertake another high-profile surrogate task for the presumptive GOP nominee Monday: pre-butting President Barack Obama's campaign speech in Cincinnati.

Portman will address supporters in Lebanon, Ohio, mid-day on Monday, hours ahead of Obama's visit to nearby Cincinnati.
