
(CNN) – Mitt Romney will be joined by a trio of potential vice presidential picks on his upcoming bus tour through four battleground states, sources confirmed to CNN Monday.
The presumptive GOP nominee will stump with Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Ohio Sen. Rob Portman on his tour, which begins Saturday.

(CNN) – GOP Sen. Rob Portman defended his party's presumptive presidential nominee Monday from President Barack Obama's "personal" attacks, saying the Democrat was focusing on Mitt Romney because his record falls short.
Portman, speaking in Lebanon, Ohio, was holding an event for Romney roughly two hours ahead of Obama's own campaign speech in nearly Cincinnati.

Washington (CNN) - Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio on Tuesday said he met with Romney campaign staffers during three meetings the day prior while in Boston to headline a couple of fundraisers for the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.
But Portman, who may be in serious contention as Mitt Romney's running mate, said the meetings were not at the Romney campaign headquarters, and had nothing to do with the vetting process.

Concord, New Hampshire (CNN) – New Hampshire was no vacation for Rob Portman who made his most public pitch yet to be chosen as Mitt Romney's running mate.
The Ohio senator, rumored to become number two on the GOP ticket, was Romney's chief defender Saturday when he encouraged conservatives to refute President Barack Obama's primary line of attack on Bain Capital by embracing Romney’s career there.
