Limbaugh vs. Mrs. Obama part two

(CNN) - On his radio show Tuesday, Rush Limbaugh defended comments he made Monday about the first lady's food choices, calling the remarks "highly civil."

On Monday, he criticized Michelle Obama – who has tackled healthy eating as part of her platform – for a dinner of ribs she consumed on a recent visit to Colorado. The outspoken conservative host said it "doesn't look like Michelle Obama follows her own nutritionary, dietary advice."

Limbaugh takes aim at Michelle Obama's waistline

Washington (CNN) - Michelle Obama is taking heat from talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh after a report in the Vail Daily that she consumed a not-so-healthy-meal of ribs for dinner while on a recent visit to the Colorado resort, the latest example of conservative angst directed at the first lady's healthy-eating initiative.

"The problem is, and dare I say this, it doesn't look like Michelle Obama follows her own nutritionary, dietary advice," Limbaugh said Monday on his radio program. "And then we hear that she's out eating ribs at 1,500 calories a serving with 141 grams of fat per serving."

Unlikely bedfellows

Washington (CNN) - Elton John is expressing a newfound fondness for someone most would see as a foe, Rush Limbaugh, the outspokenly anti-gay marriage radio personality. In the new issue of Rolling Stone, to be released Friday, John discusses the thaw between the two, who many would expect to have a lot to disagree over.

John explained his reaction when asked by Limbaugh to perform at his wedding, "I could not believe when I was asked to play. I thought it was a joke."

Limbaugh says Dems playing politics with Giffords shooting

Washington (CNN) - Conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh offered a vigorous defense of himself and Sarah Palin Monday in response to claims from some media commentators and those on the left that their charged statements and colorful language may have inspired the Arizona shootings.

"[The media] is unnecessarily stirring up the country in ways that don't merit," Limbaugh said on his radio program Monday. "It's fatuous and silly to even verify and justify these accusations by defending them. The premise is insane, it's silly, it's beneath these people. Or is it? It is who they are."

Limbaugh calls Obama a 'jackass'

(CNN) - Rush Limbaugh criticized President Obama's economic positions Tuesday during his radio show with some intense rhetoric, even for him.

"He's a jackass, he's an economic illiterate, he's an economic ignoramus and that's being charitable," Limbaugh said on his popular radio program.

Limbaugh was talking about Obama's tax policy and whether to extend the Bush era tax cuts for individuals making over $200,000 and couples making over $250,000.

Plouffe: Republicans are getting 'the Mike Castle treatment'

Akron, Ohio (CNN) – David Plouffe, one of President Obama's top political advisers, said Tuesday that the Republican Party has been overwhelmed by a "Beck-Palin-Limbaugh wing" that will make it impossible for the GOP to nominate a viable general election candidate in 2012.

"If you are a moderate Republican thinking about running in a primary for any office in 2011 and 2012, you are going to have to think twice, because you are going to get the Mike Castle treatment," Plouffe said in an interview in Ohio, where he is campaigning for Gov. Ted Strickland. "So they are going to nominate more and more extreme Republicans who are doing very well among that Palin-Limbaugh-Beck base."

Limbaugh says Fox News 'caved' in Sherrod coverage

Rush Limbaugh attacked Fox News on Thursday.
Rush Limbaugh attacked Fox News on Thursday.

(CNN) – Rush Limbaugh said Thursday on his radio show that Fox News and at least one of its anchors "caved" in its coverage of Shirley Sherrod, the former USDA employee who was fired in haste on Monday after an edited clip of her was posted on a conservative website.

"I have to go after it … because even Fox caved on this," Limbaugh said. "Even Shep Smith. Even poor old Shep Smith went down there and said that everybody's wrong on this, that [BigGovernment.com founder Andrew] Breitbart is wrong and so forth. There's only a handful of us that have the guts to put this story straight. If we don't hammer back nobody will."

Limbaugh dismissed the story, saying he was bored by it.

"It's nothing more than the left playing the race card, the NAACP has thrown down the gauntlet because the big government argument has failed," Limbaugh said. "They are keeping alive the divisions in this country and I hate taking the bait, I hate playing along with it, I simply despise the whole thing."

"We've got a bunch of cowards in the conservative media inside the beltway which will not deal with this honestly," Limbaugh added.

Limbaugh bashes GOP for Barton response

Rush Limbaugh defended Rep. Joe Barton Monday.

(CNN) – Conservative talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh is taking aim at Republican leaders for rushing to demand Texas Rep. Joe Barton retract his controversial apology to BP CEO Tony Hayward during last week's congressional hearing.

On his radio show Monday, Limbaugh suggested the GOP leadership likely agrees with Barton's sentiments, but are driven by recent national polls which suggest the majority of Americans support President Barack Obama's push for BP to set aside $20 billion for future liability claims.

"It was a shakedown pure and simple," said Limbaugh, echoing the words for which Barton later apologized. "And somebody had the audacity to call it what it was and now everybody's running for the hills."

"All you have to do is look at the polling," Limbaugh continued. "We're talking about Republicans inside the beltway. All you have to do is look at the polling data and media coverage and find out what they are going to do."

Barton, the ranking Republican on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, quickly faced fire from both the right and the left after apologizing to Hayward during the BP chairman's appearance before his committee Thursday. Hours later – amid threats he would lose his leadership post – Barton retracted the comments.

"Let's just slither away under the rock here," Limbaugh said, mocking the Republicans' approach to Barton. "We'll let Joe Barton get eaten by the Democrat lizards on this to protect ourselves. This is politics and this is the reason why true believers have such a problem with politics. It's just that simple and no more complicated than that."

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) – Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh is having a tough time saying adios to New York City. But it's not because he'll miss the Big Apple. Rather, he's been forced to cut the asking price for his Fifth Avenue penthouse to $12.95 million.

Limbaugh originally listed his spacious digs in March, asking $13.95 million. He bought the 10-room condo at 1049 Fifth Ave. in 1994 under the name of R H Trust, according to city property documents.

Luxury broker Corcoran Group is listing the property, but the firm chose not to release photos or confirm the celebrity resident. Limbaugh was not available for comment.

The pad sprawls across nearly 5,000 square feet and two of its terraces overlook Central Park and its famous reservoir.
