WASHINGTON (CNN) - A freshman Democrat in the Senate who could face a challenging re-election next year is building up his campaign war chest.
Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio raised $1.3 million in the first three months of this year, according to Brown campaign officials, who add that the senator has $2.5 million cash on hand.
(CNN)—Democratic Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown is apologizing for invoking Hitler and Stalin on the Senate floor.
"I should not have mentioned the hostility of tyrants, like Hitler, to unions," he said in a statement released Friday. "I don't want my mistake to distract from the critical debate in Ohio, and I apologize for it."
Washington (CNN)-Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio invoked Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin while sounding off on union battles with state lawmakers in his state and in Wisconsin.
"I look back in history, in some of the worst governments that we had, you know the first thing they did, go after unions, Hitler didn't want unions, Stalin didn't want unions, Mubarak didn't want unions, these autocrats don't want independent unions," Brown said Thursday during a speech on the floor of the Senate.

(CNN)–Democratic Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown had choice words about the tax deal struck between President Barack Obama and congressional Republicans announced Monday night. He appeared on CNN's "John King, USA" following the president's press conference, which gave an overview of the deal.
Brown told CNN Chief National Correspondent John King, "In essence it borrows 700 billion dollars from China, charges it, puts it on our children and grandchildren's credit cards and gives it to the wealthiest two percent tax payers."
