
Washington (CNN) - Congressional leaders, potential presidential candidates and party elders will come together next week in the nation's capital to help fill New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez's political war chest, CNN has learned.
From House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to Sen. Rand Paul and Sen. Marco Rubio, at least 27 people are listed as "Honored Guests" on a fundraising invitation that also features Republican Governors Association Chair Bobby Jindal, Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus and former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, among many others. The event is expected to raise "six figures," said an adviser to the New Mexico governor, who spoke about it on the condition of anonymity. Contributions range from $500 to $5,200 per person.

Washington (CNN) - The trouncing Republicans received in November's election was fueled partly by Democrats' success among minorities, who formed a record portion of total turnout and overwhelmingly cast ballots for President Barack Obama.
As the national GOP examines what went wrong, a new effort will focus on electing women and minorities to state office, where organizers say a new generation of Republican leaders can help change the perception that their party is no longer reflective of America's changing population.

(CNN) – Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley - three women rumored to be under consideration as Mitt Romney's running mate - will have high profile speaking roles at the Republican National Convention, organizers will announce Monday.
The naming of the three women most likely means that Romney's campaign is no longer vetting their backgrounds, if they ever did.

Washington (CNN) - At the Council on Foreign relations this week, Sen. Marco Rubio talked tough on the international hotspot of the day, Syria.
"It's time to act now. I don't want to score political points on this issue, I want to see it resolved," Rubio told Time Magazine's Rick Stengel, the event's moderator.

The first term governor cited her developmentally disabled sister and commitment to New Mexico residents as reasons for her decision.

(CNN) - For New York, New Mexico and Michigan, the start of the new year means a new governor.
On Saturday, Democrat Andrew Cuomo became New York's 56th governor, Republican Susana Martinez became New Mexico's 27th governor and the nation's first female Hispanic governor and Republican Rick Snyder became Michigan's 48th governor. The three new state chiefs seized the reins amid difficult economic realities, something that remained a constant throughout the ceremonies.

(CNN) - President Obama said he wants to meet with the freshman class of governors, and the country's first female Hispanic governor-elect said she knows what she wants to say to him.
"I certainly want him to focus in on New Mexico and the issues of, one, creating jobs… reviving our economy, but also on the border," Republican Governor-elect Susana Martinez said in an interview set to air on CNN's John King, USA Wednesday. "We must secure our border."

Alamogordo, New Mexico (CNN) – When CNN interviewed Susana Martinez, New Mexico's Republican candidate for Governor, we got a surprise. Our cameraman John Torigoe was trying to clip the microphone pack to the candidate's belt when she pulled away and said "Be careful, that's a gun back there." Martinez tells CNN she has a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
She was packing heat when she addressed a gathering in Alamogordo, New Mexico on Monday. She warned them not to get too confident because "as Republicans we're outnumbered."
