Tea party leader argues for immigration reform

(CNN) – Bucking the general hesitation on the right to move forward with immigration reform in a midterm year, Sal Russo, a leading tea party activist, is making the case for conservatives to take the lead on the issue.

A co-founder for the Tea Party Express, Russo called on Congress to fix a "flawed and broken" system to keep pace with a growing economy.

Calls from tea party for 'consequences' of fiscal cliff vote

(CNN) - Prominent tea party voices are calling for action following the fiscal cliff votes this week in Washington.

Amy Kremer, leader of the group Tea Party Express, said Thursday she is "outraged" over the deal, which was struck between Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and Vice President Joe Biden. It allows tax rates on wealthy earners - families earning over $450,000 and individuals earning over $400,000 - to expire while extending the tax breaks passed under President George W. Bush for earners below those thresholds.

Largest tea party PAC lauds Ryan selection

(CNN) – The nation's largest tea party political action committee swiftly praised Mitt Romney's selection of Paul Ryan as his running mate on Saturday. The Tea Party Express said the House Budget chairman is a favorite among activists - despite Ryan's past support for two federal measures that, arguably, inflame the most anger among tea partiers.

"Ryan is a strong fiscal conservative, and he has used his Chairmanship of the House Budget Committee to address the serious financial woes facing the country," Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer said of the House Budget chairman in a statement.

Tea Party Express backs Neumann in Wisconsin

(CNN) – The Tea Party Express continued its slate of endorsements Friday, throwing its support behind U.S. Senate candidate Mark Neumann ahead of Wisconsin's Republican primary August 14.

"The Tea Party is united behind Mark Neumann because he is the proven conservative in the race," Tea Party Express Chairwoman Amy Kremer wrote in a statement. "Mark earned the support of the Tea Party Express, and Tea Party members from every corner of Wisconsin, because he is the only one with a plan that cuts spending, balances the budget and repeals ObamaCare. He understands that we must get back to Constitutional principles in Washington. And, he is the one we can trust to stand up to Barack Obama."

Largest tea party PAC to endorse Durant in Michigan

Washington (CNN) – The nation's largest tea party political action committee will reveal Thursday the latest candidate to receive its blessing, the group's leaders told CNN.

The Tea Party Express will endorse attorney Clark Durant over former Rep. Pete Hoekstra in the Michigan Republican senate primary - a risky move that could snap the group's recent string of endorsement success. Though Durant has badly trailed Hoekstra in several recent polls, Express leaders will gather in Flint to announce their support of him.
