Washington (CNN) – Some leading national Tea Party organizations are anything but happy with Friday night's deal on the budget that prevented a federal government shutdown.
A spokesman for the Tea Party Express tells CNN the group isn't "very impressed" with the budget deal and says the agreement proves the Tea Party has a lot more work to do to make deeper cuts in the federal budget.
Washington (CNN) – Still swaggering after its recent electoral successes, the Tea Party movement appears to be growing more emboldened as it tries to blaze a path to power.
One new bold move: An activist group is publicly parading a list of lawmakers the group is determined to oust from office.
Washington (CNN) – The Tea Party Express is hyping, what it calls, "exclusive news": that the group has placed another name on its list of political targets.
On Wednesday, Sal Russo - chief strategist of the Tea Party Express - distributed an email to supporters.
It states that the group is "pleased to tip you...to the exclusive news that we will be making another Democrat, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, one of our top targets for defeat in these upcoming 2012 elections."
Washington (CNN) - Six members of Congress faced conservative activists in what organizers called the "first Tea Party town hall" on Tuesday.
Attendees included Senators Rand Paul of Kentucky, Mike Lee and Orrin Hatch, both of Utah, as well as Representatives Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, Allen West of Florida and Steve King of Iowa.
Washington (CNN) - Sen. Orrin Hatch "invited himself" to the Tea Party town hall that will be held in Washington on Tuesday, according to the chairman of the Tea Party Express.
Washington (CNN) – Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, who may face a primary challenge next year, apparently now has one less thing to worry about.
The Tea Party Express, a national Tea Party organization that last year helped oust Bob Bennett, Utah's other GOP senator, as he unsuccessfully tried to win his party's re-nomination, says they have no plans as of now to target Hatch next as he gears up for re-election in 2012.
Washington (CNN) - Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann, chair of the Tea Party Caucus in Congress, delivered a Tea Party-style, red-meat conservative rebuttal sharply criticizing President Barack Obama's State of the Union Tuesday.
Bachmann's remarks followed the official Republican response to the president by Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, but the Minnesota Republican told CNN after the address that the Tea Party Express invited her to give a response the State of the Union last month, and denied that her response was meant to compete with Ryan's.
Washington (CNN) - Echoing comments from Rep. Michele Bachmann, the head of the Tea Party Express insists that the Minnesota Republican's response to the State of the Union is not meant to compete with the official Republican response from Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin.
But Express Chairman Amy Kremer also emphatically told CNN on Tuesday that "the peoples' voices" need to be heard - and that the Tea Party "is not a wing of the Republican Party!"
Washington (CNN) - A prominent Tea Party group intends to send a message to those lawmakers it helped elect: we intend to hold your feet to the fire – in a "supportive way."
That will be the intended message from the Tea Party Express as it holds an upcoming town-hall-style meeting in Washington. Details of the event are still being worked out. There is no firm date yet, though it could be held in the middle of January, a spokesman for the Express told CNN on Monday. One item the group is clear on is the event's goal.
