Budget deal doesn't thrill some in the Tea Party movement

Washington (CNN) – Some leading national Tea Party organizations are anything but happy with Friday night's deal on the budget that prevented a federal government shutdown.

A spokesman for the Tea Party Express tells CNN the group isn't "very impressed" with the budget deal and says the agreement proves the Tea Party has a lot more work to do to make deeper cuts in the federal budget.

Conservative groups say no to spending extension

(CNN) - A major national Tea Party organization is joining other conservative groups in calling for Republican lawmakers in Congress to vote against a three week extension to fund the federal government and prevent a government shutdown.

Judson Phillips, founder of Tea Party Nation, a national Tea Party organization that's based in Tennessee, Monday urged his group's members to "call, fax, email and tweet to your congressman and to Speaker Boehner today. We can stop this, if we act!"

Tea Party leader: Boehner looks 'like a fool,' should be defeated in a primary

Washington (CNN) – In another display of the Tea Party movement turning on its own ideological supporters, the head of one prominent group has said that House Speaker John Boehner looks “like a fool” as House Republicans push spending cuts in their budget proposal. And that leader wants the Tea Party movement to set a goal for 2012: to defeat Boehner in a Republican primary.

To help make his point, Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips even referenced a story currently feeding a pop-culture frenzy.

Tea Party message to new Speaker

(CNN) - A warning Thursday from a Tea Party movement leader to new House Speaker John Boehner.

"As you get down to work, there are a few things to remember. You did not become Speaker because America suddenly fell in love with you or the Republican Party. You became Speaker because America, led by the Tea Party, repudiated Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and the party of socialism," writes Judson Phillips, founder of Tea Party Nation, a national Tea Party organization that's based in Tennessee.

Battle over who speaks for Tea Party movement

(CNN)– A letter by a large group of Tea Party movement leaders to the top two Republicans in Congress that fires back at a gay conservative group is now itself receiving incoming fire.

The letter by Tea Party Nation and signed by approximately 150 other movement leaders, appears to be in response to a similar letter last week that was put out by GOProud and signed by 17 other Tea Party activist leaders that called for congressional Republicans to deal with fiscal issues right away rather than social issues.

Tea Party group to pump $1 million into midterms

,

Washington (CNN) - A leading national Tea Party organization says it's going to pump $1 million to local Tea Party groups to spend on the midterm elections, thanks to an anonymous donation.

The Tea Party Patriots announced Tuesday that money will be distributed no later that October 4. Tea Party Patriots co-founder Mark Meckler said the funds won't be spent on his organization, but rather are "intended to go out to the groups on the ground, in the field."

"The goal of this donation is to do what we've always done as Tea Party Patriots, is to help groups on the ground be more effective at what they're already doing, not to tell them what to do, not to tell them how to spend the money," Meckler said.

Tea Party Nation: Movement 'is not racist'

(CNN) – A national Tea Party group responsible for the conservative movement's first national convention is out with a statement Monday responding to the weeklong controversy about claims of racism within the movement's ranks.

"As most of you are aware, one of the leaders in the tea party movement posted a controversial blog many took to be racist,' the statement says in an apparent reference to a blog post by Mark Williams which Williams published but then later removed from his personal blog.

"The Tea Party Movement is not racist," the statement says. "Tea Party Nation and many other groups have repudiated racism and racists."

Tea Party Nation organized and held the first national Tea Party convention in Nashville, Tennessee in February.

(CNN) - A National Tea Party Unity convention that was scheduled to be held in Las Vegas in July will now take place in October, according to organizers.

The event, organized by Tea Party Nation (a national Tea Party organization) and Free America (a conservative non-profit group) and other organizations, will still be held at the Palazzo Las Vegas Resort. But Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips confirmed to CNN Saturday that the date is being moved from July 15-17 to October in order to hold the event closer to the midterm elections.

"We concluded it would more advantageous to hold the convention in the middle of October just prior to the November elections," says Phillips in a statement.
