(CNN) - Rep. Paul Ryan, a Republican from Wisconsin and former Republican vice presidential candidate, distanced himself from one of the most conservative leaders of his party and expressed reluctant support for one of its most embattled figures.
At the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Ryan took a swipe at Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, for not recognizing "reality" and, when pressed, expressed moderate support for Gov. Chris Christie, R-New Jersey.

Dallas (CNN) - Wendy Davis' second ex-husband, Jeff Davis, says he doesn't want to talk any more about his ex-wife, adding he wasn't pleased with the explosive debate that originated from his recent comments about the Texas gubernatorial candidate.
"Despite our differences, Wendy would make a very capable governor," he said Tuesday in an email response, in which he declined a request for an on-camera interview with CNN.

(CNN) – Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis admitted in an interview with the Dallas Morning News that she hasn't been totally accurate about her life's story, a compelling narrative she has used to appeal to voters in Texas and bolster her national profile.
"My language should be tighter," the Democratic state senator said. "I'm learning about using broader, looser language. I need to be more focused on the detail."
(CNN) - Houston mayor Annise Parker married her longtime partner Kathy Hubbard on Thursday at a ceremony in California.
Parker's office said the sunset ceremony took place at a private home in Palm Springs among a small gathering of family and friends. Rev. Paul Fromberg, a family friend from San Francisco, presided over the ceremony.

His death was confirmed by Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, and state Attorney General Greg Abbott, in separate statements.
Washington (CNN) – Houston Democratic Mayor Annise Parker is pulling hard for state Senator Wendy Davis for Texas governor, but acknowledges it is still a “red state” and her fellow Democrat has a tough fight ahead of her.
Appearing in Washington this week, Parker expressed strong support for Davis, saying “it is possible” for her to win.
