(CNN) - Democrat Dan Malloy has won the tight Connecticut governor's race over Republican Tom Foley, secretary of state Susan Bysiewicz announced by statement Friday.
The victory for Malloy, the former mayor of Stamford, is the first for a Democrat in the state since 1986. He will replace M. Jodi Rell, who retired from office.
(CNN) - Democratic Rep. Raul Grijalva has won a fifth term in the U.S. House after narrowly defeating Republican Ruth McClung, a physicist, according to a CNN projection. Grijalva prevailed with 49 percent of the vote, compared to 45 percent to McClung.
(CNN) - Washington Democratic Sen. Patty Murray will serve a fourth term in the Senate after challenger Dino Rossi conceded Thursday, two days after Election Day.
Murray held a 2 point lead with 82 percent of the vote counted Thursday night.
"This evening, I called Sen. Murray to offer my congratulations on her re-election to the U.S. Senate," Rossi said in a statement.
