(CNN) - Tim Pawlenty took on a self deprecating tone Tuesday night while he mocked his failed Republican presidential bid.
The former two-term Minnesota governor was the first candidate to drop out of the 2012 race for the White House after a disappointing finish in the high stakes Ames Straw Poll in August. During an appearance on Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report," Pawlenty attributed the decision to money, and a little humiliation.

(CNN) – Former Rep. Vin Weber of Minnesota joined Team Romney Wednesday, throwing his support behind the former Massachusetts Gov. after backing Tim Pawlenty in his failed bid for the White House.
Weber, a Washington, D.C. lobbyist, will serve as a special adviser on policy, providing counsel on foreign and economic issues, according to a statement from Romney's campaign.

AMES, Iowa (CNN) - Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty abandoned his bid for the GOP presidential nomination on Sunday after a disappointing finish in the Ames Straw Poll in Iowa.
"We needed a boost from Ames that didn't happen," Pawlenty told staff on a conference call Sunday morning, CNN learned.

Ames, Iowa (CNN) - Hoping to avoid an underwhelming straw poll finish that could derail his campaign, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty delivered a message of electability to an arena full of Republicans in Ames on Saturday.
“I won and got re-elected in one of the most difficult states in the country for a Republican,” he said, promising to carry purple and blue states in a general election match-up against President Barack Obama.
