
(CNN) – While Richard Mourdock knocked out the Senate's most senior Republican in Tuesday's Indiana primary, a GOP candidate in Utah is hoping to do the same to the second longest-serving Senate Republican: Orrin Hatch.
Dan Liljenquist, the former state senator challenging Hatch, quickly fired out a statement Tuesday night, praising Mourdock's win and pushing for a repeat for conservative Republicans in Utah's GOP primary this June.

(CNN) - To call Mia Love a minority is an understatement. She’s a black woman who won an upset primary race to become the Republican candidate in Utah’s 4th Congressional District. If elected, she’d be the first black Republican congresswoman in the House of Representatives.

(CNN) - Two years after Republican Sen. Bob Bennett of Utah was defeated in his bid for renomination at the GOP's state convention, Sen. Orrin Hatch faces the same test.
But a new statewide poll of Republicans indicates the outcome from Saturday's Utah GOP state party convention could be very different from April 2010, when Bennett came in third. He lost out to two more conservative tea party backed candidates, which denied him a chance to run for renomination in the Republican primary.

(CNN) - Newt Gingrich shrugged off a $500 bounced check from his campaign Wednesday, saying the mistake was "one of those goofy things."
A Utah election official confirmed Wednesday the check, meant to pay a fee associated with appearing on the state's primary ballot, had bounced.

(CNN) - Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah will endorse GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Monday, a Romney campaign source confirmed to CNN.
Lee, a popular figure in the Tea Party movement, will be the first member of the Senate Tea Party Caucus to endorse the former Massachusetts governor. Romney previously received the support of most of the Utah congressional delegation, including Sen. Orrin Hatch and Representatives Jason Chaffetz and Rob Bishop.

(CNN) – Despite opposition from within the Republican base, initial results from Thursday night's Utah party caucuses indicate Sen. Orrin Hatch may survive efforts to derail his six-term incumbency.
While the numbers will not be finalized until late Friday night, the veteran senator's campaign came out of the contest feeling confident, saying the results "look very good."
