Poll: Obama 53%-Romney 42% in Wisconsin

(CNN) - Hours before the first presidential debate, a new poll indicates President Barack Obama is holding his lead over Republican challenger Mitt Romney in the race for Wisconsin's ten electoral votes.

Obama's 11-point lead is down from a 14 point lead in the previous Marquette poll conducted in mid September, after the Democratic convention.

FreedomWorks to launch African-American outreach tour

Washington (CNN) – Sometimes in politics, things are black and white – like the historically wide gulf between the black community and the conservative movement.
But a new effort by FreedomWorks, a conservative organization associated with the tea party movement, aims to change that. And a prominent African-African progressive activist says he thinks the outreach effort is premature, misguided and, therefore, not likely to be successful.

With an event Wednesday evening in Pittsburgh, FreedomWorks is launching its national "Black and White Tour," an explicit, unapologetic effort to lobby African-Americans on economic policy issues at the core of the agenda of many fiscal conservatives involved in tea party activism.

Obama stumps in surprise battleground state

Milwaukee, Wisconsin (CNN) - His campaign thought Wisconsin's 10 electoral votes were in the bag long ago, but President Barack Obama's trip here Saturday is the latest indicator that both sides believe the Badger State has become a toss-up.

The president touches down in the state Saturday for the first time in more than 200 days, set to attend two fund-raisers that will net his campaign more than $600,000 as well as an evening rally at a large amphitheater on the banks of Lake Michigan.

Ryan 'very comfortable' as Romney's V.P. candidate

Lakeland, Florida (CNN) - Rep. Paul Ryan told reporters Friday that he is "comfortable" with how Romney's campaign is managing his role as the vice presidential nominee, after Wisconsin Gov. Walker, who recently survived a recall election in Wisconsin, praised Mitt Romney for making a "bold" choice in selecting his friend and seven-term congressman from his home state.

Obama holds advantage in three swing states

(CNN) – A poll of voters in the key battleground states of Iowa, Colorado and Wisconsin released Thursday shows President Obama with an advantage over Republican nominee Mitt Romney.

The NBC/Wall Street Journal/Marist survey indicates Obama pulling ahead among likely voters by five points in both Wisconsin and Colorado with 50% to Romney's 45%, a margin that is within the poll's sampling error. But in Iowa the president holds an eight point lead with 50% to Romney's 42%, which is outside the poll's sampling error.
