Chris Christie: The $60 million man

Updated at 9:15am ET

Washington (CNN) – It appears the George Washington Bridge controversy New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's dealing with this year back in the Garden State hasn't affected his standing as one of the GOP's most potent fundraising rainmakers.

The Republican Governors Association announced Thursday that it's raised $60 million since Christie was elected chairman of the organization last November.

First on CNN: New spot in ad-wars over Obamacare

Washington (CNN) – A conservative group that's spent millions attacking Democrats over the new health care law this election cycle is going up with a new TV commercial supporting a Republican congressman in Montana who's running for that state's open U.S. Senate seat.

The ad by Americans for Prosperity thanks Rep. Steve Daines for his fight against the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare.

Poll: Most Americans haven't changed their mind about Christie

(CNN) – New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he had no knowledge or involvement in the closing of access lanes to the George Washington Bridge, and according to a new national poll, a plurality of Americans believe him.

An NBC News/Marist survey released Wednesday also indicates that nearly seven in 10 say the bridge controversy has not changed their opinion of Christie, and nearly half describe him as a "strong leader," with only a quarter labeling him a "bully."

NY Polls: Cuomo in strong 2014 position but trails Clinton in 2016 race

(CNN) - New York State Gov. Andrew Cuomo's in a strong position to win re-election next year, two new polls suggest.

But one of the surveys also indicates that among New York state Democrats, Cuomo's a distant second to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who represented the Empire State for eight years in the U.S. Senate, when it comes to their pick for their party's presidential nominee in 2016.

CNN Exit Polls: No gender gap for Christie

(CNN) – Chris Christie's re-election as New Jersey governor was never in doubt.

But the big questions heading into Tuesday's gubernatorial election were how large a victory the high-profile Republican with national aspirations would capture against state Sen. Barbara Buono, his little-known Democratic challenger, and how Christie would perform with voters who tend to cast ballots for Democrats.

Poll: 3rd party candidate may make difference in crucial election

Washington (CNN) - Democrat Terry McAuliffe holds a seven-point lead over Republican Ken Cuccinelli in the marquee political battle for Virginia governor, according to a new poll.

NJ voters split over possible Christie 2016 bid

(CNN) - Most New Jersey voters in a new poll want Republican Gov. Chris Christie to serve a second term. But only about half think he should make a White House run and they're split on whether he'd make a good president.

The release on Tuesday of the Quinnipiac University survey comes one week before the gubernatorial election in the Garden State, a contest that Christie is expected to easily win.

Rubio favors House approach over immigration bill he helped author

Washington (CNN) –  He was a leading member of a bipartisan "Gang of Eight" Senators who pushed a comprehensive immigration reform bill through the chamber earlier this year.

But with that measure facing little hope of passage in the Republican-controlled House, Sen. Marco Rubio feels Congress should play small ball when it comes to approving any bills on immigration reform.

GOP, Boehner take shutdown hit in new CNN poll

Just more than half the public says that it's bad for the country that the GOP controls the House of Representatives, according to a new national poll conducted after the end of the partial government shutdown.

And the CNN/ORC International survey also indicates that more than six in 10 Americans say that Speaker of the House John Boehner should be replaced.

The poll was conducted Friday through Sunday, just after the end of the 16-day partial federal government shutdown that was caused in part by a push by House conservatives to try and dismantle the health care law, which is President Barack Obama's signature domestic achievement.
