Obama wants DNC chair to stay on the job

Washington (CNN) – Two senior Democratic Party officials tell CNN that President Barack Obama will ask Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida to stay on for a second term as chair of the Democratic National Committee.

The DNC meets in Washington, D.C. on January 22, the day after the president's second inauguration, for its annual winter meetings. The top thing on the agenda at the gathering is to vote on the chair and other party officials for the next two years.

Obama campaign seeks to frame the narrative with new ads

(CNN) – The Obama campaign launched Monday the first in a series of positive ads aimed at highlighting the president's record on such issues as the economy and foreign policy.

Called "Go," the first ad begins and ends by addressing voters' concerns about the economy, reminding Americans that President Obama inherited an economic mess from the previous administration. The one-minute spot makes the case that Obama's policies have helped middle-class Americans and will continue to do more in the future.

Washington (CNN) – The Obama campaign is out with a new web video featuring some of Newt Gingrich's fiercest attacks on Mitt Romney, the same day Gingrich is expected to show support for Romney's candidacy.

The video features clips of Gingrich questioning Romney's candor as a politician, querying why he has a swiss bank account, and in response to a question by Wolf Blitzer at a CNN debate, describing Romney as the most anti-immigrant candidate remaining in the race.

Obama campaign: Romney won Florida on negative ads

(CNN) – One day after Mitt Romney’s Florida primary win, President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign remains focused on painting the former Massachusetts governor as an unpopular Republican candidate.

In a memo addressed to interested parties and given to CNN by the campaign, deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter attributed Romney's victory to the bombardment of negative ads run in the state by his campaign, as well as by the super PAC supportive of his candidacy, Restore Our Future.
