(CNN) – Bill and Hillary Clinton are "livid" with New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner, a source close to the couple said Monday in response to a report in The New York Post.
The source disputed the story in the Post that said the Clintons are "livid" at comparisons made between Weiner and the former president. Instead the source said the Clintons' anger stemmed from their personal relationship with Abedin and not from any political concerns about their association with Weiner.

Washington (CNN) – The potential nomination of Janet Yellen to serve as the next chairman of the Federal Reserve is gaining traction on Capitol Hill.
Three Democratic senators signed a letter encouraging President Barack Obama to nominate the current vice chair of the Fed and former chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers to the post, according to Senate aides.

(CNN) – Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of former President John F. Kennedy and a prominent Democratic backer, was nominated by President Barack Obama Wednesday to serve as U.S. ambassador to Japan.
She would become the first woman to hold the post if she's confirmed by the U.S. Senate. A top supporter of Obama's, she served as the co-chair of his vice presidential search committee in 2008.

(CNN) - President Barack Obama is seriously considering withdrawing all U.S. troops from Afghanistan in 2014, a senior administration official told CNN.
The official's comments came after The New York Times reported the administration was looking at speeding up the troop withdrawal to the "zero option," leaving no troops in Afghanistan.

The president will announce the personnel change Wednesday afternoon at the White House, an administration official said.

(CNN) - President Barack Obama will deliver long-promised remarks Thursday explaining the legal framework behind the decisions he makes to use drones against terrorist threats and further detail the administration’s counterterrorism policy, according to a White House official.
In his speech at the National Defense University, the president also plans to review the state of threats the country currently faces and efforts to close down Guantanamo Bay's detention facility, the official said.

(CNN) - Treasury officials were made aware in June 2012 that the IRS inspector general was reviewing the office that handles tax-exempt applications, but a letter from October shows that the inspector general did not highlight the audit as a top concern for the agency.
In a memo dated October 15, 2012, to then-Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner about IRS challenges for 2013, Inspector General J. Russell George noted other problem areas, but made no mention of the investigation taking place at the time of the agency's intense scrutiny of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status.
