Political Circus: Keeping it classy...

(CNN)— Take the free-for-all nature of social media, add the oft-mean spirited commentary that punctuates political circles and you have a recipe for petty online smackdowns.

Conservative commentators Dana Loesch's and Meghan McCain's online back and forth devolved into an hours-long, Twitterverse brawl on the derogatory nature of (drumroll please)… political brawls.

Political Circus: McConnell comes strapped to CPAC...sort of

Mitch McConnell came strapped to the Conservative Political Action Conference this week.

The Senate minority leader, 72, held his rifle mightily overhead before presenting it to his pal, Sen. Tom Coburn, an Oklahoma Republican, as part of the NRA Courage Under Fire lifetime achievement award.

Political circus: I'm in whatever party Biden's in

Washington (CNN) - If you watch Vice President Joe Biden, you get the impression that every day is a BFD — the D stands for "day."

And no day is bigger than the State of the Union address - which is kind of like a bizarro world high school reunion where the popular kids are the party in power and members of the minority party often look as if they’re ready to dump a bucket of pig’s blood on the prom king-president.

Obama, Romney fight for middle class voters

WASHINGTON (CNN) - President Barack Obama, fresh from his renewed pitch to cut taxes for the middle class, takes his message to Iowa Tuesday - a trip shadowed by Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus as part of a GOP strategy of "bracketing" the president's public appearances in battleground states.

Obama won Iowa by 10 points in the 2008 election.
