(CNN) – Applications for health insurance coverage under President Barack Obama's sweeping healthcare law will go from 21 pages to three, according to a White House official, who said the change was part of an effort to simplify the implementation of Obamacare.
"The President wants the Administration to be as flexible and nimble as possible in implementing the ACA law," the White House official said, referring to the law's official name, the Affordable Care Act. "It is a complex undertaking, and it is particularly important to the success of the law that enrollment into the Markteplaces be as user friendly as possible."
Washington (CNN) – Echoing similar remarks earlier in the day from President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden vowed Tuesday to "get to the bottom" of Monday's terror attack at the Boston Marathon.
"We don't have any hard information yet," Biden said on his way to an event on Capitol Hill. "But I can assure we will find out who did it and bring them to justice."
(CNN) - It would be the latest strange twist in the story involving actress Ashley Judd, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and a secretly recorded tape of a campaign strategy session.
But the local Democratic official who a Kentucky newspaper reported Saturday would recant at least some of his story tells CNN that the report is not true.
(CNN) – An official with a local Democratic Party group alleged Thursday a Kentucky-based liberal organization was responsible for the secretly recorded tapes of Sen. Mitch McConnell plotting campaign strategy.
Jacob Conway, an executive committee member of the Louisville-Jefferson County Democratic Party, told CNN that members of Progress Kentucky admitted to him in February they made the recording. That's the same group behind offensive tweets posted last month targeting McConnell's wife.
(CNN) – One of the questions to emerge from that secret recording of a Mitch McConnell campaign strategy session is whether it proves the Senate Minority Leader is caught on tape misusing his congressional staff.
The DC-based watchdog group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics and Washington has asked the FBI to investigate.
(CNN) – Beyoncé and Jay-Z are continuing to face heat from Republicans in Washington for their jaunt last week to Cuba, which remains off-limits for Americans looking only for a tropical vacation.
"How nice it would have been if they had said something about freedom and human rights,” Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen told CNN.
(CNN) – The Ready for Hillary super PAC is getting some high-profile help.
James Carville, the Democratic strategist who has close ties to Bill and Hillary Clinton, sent an email to the group's distribution list saying he supports the PAC and wants people to get on board.
Charleston, South Carolina (CNN) – Former Gov. Mark Sanford finished first in Tuesday's crowded Republican primary for the U.S. House special election in South Carolina, CNN projects. However, Sanford fell well short of the 50% margin needed to avoid a runoff.
The former governor will compete against Curtis Bostic, a former Charleston councilman, in a runoff election in two weeks. The third place finisher, state Sen. Larry Grooms, conceded the race Wednesday.
Charleston, SC (CNN) - In this heated congressional race along the South Carolina coast known as "Low Country," the candidates haven't exactly taken the high road.
Take the flyer mailed out to voters that takes aim at the state's former governor, Mark Sanford, over the extramarital affair he once tried to hide by saying he was hiking the Appalachian Trail.
Charleston, South Carolina (CNN) – In South Carolina, Mark Sanford needs no introduction.
But after the former governor of the state infamously told the public he was hiking the Appalachian Trail while he was actually traveling to Argentina to carry on an extramarital affair, a reintroduction wouldn't hurt.
"At some level or another we all hope for redemption," Sanford told CNN in an interview.
