Biden vows justice for Boston attack

Washington (CNN) – Echoing similar remarks earlier in the day from President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden vowed Tuesday to "get to the bottom" of Monday's terror attack at the Boston Marathon.

"We don't have any hard information yet," Biden said on his way to an event on Capitol Hill. "But I can assure we will find out who did it and bring them to justice."

Democratic official bats down reported twist involving secret tape

(CNN) - It would be the latest strange twist in the story involving actress Ashley Judd, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and a secretly recorded tape of a campaign strategy session.

But the local Democratic official who a Kentucky newspaper reported Saturday would recant at least some of his story tells CNN that the report is not true.

Kentucky Democratic official claims liberal group behind McConnell tape

(CNN) – An official with a local Democratic Party group alleged Thursday a Kentucky-based liberal organization was responsible for the secretly recorded tapes of Sen. Mitch McConnell plotting campaign strategy.

Jacob Conway, an executive committee member of the Louisville-Jefferson County Democratic Party, told CNN that members of Progress Kentucky admitted to him in February they made the recording. That's the same group behind offensive tweets posted last month targeting McConnell's wife.

Was it 'three times' or 'free time' on McConnell tape?

(CNN) – One of the questions to emerge from that secret recording of a Mitch McConnell campaign strategy session is whether it proves the Senate Minority Leader is caught on tape misusing his congressional staff.

The DC-based watchdog group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics and Washington has asked the FBI to investigate.

GOP lawmakers continue to call out Beyoncé and Jay-Z for ‘shameful’ vacation

(CNN) – Beyoncé and Jay-Z are continuing to face heat from Republicans in Washington for their jaunt last week to Cuba, which remains off-limits for Americans looking only for a tropical vacation.

"How nice it would have been if they had said something about freedom and human rights,” Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen told CNN.

(CNN) – The Ready for Hillary super PAC is getting some high-profile help.

James Carville, the Democratic strategist who has close ties to Bill and Hillary Clinton, sent an email to the group's distribution list saying he supports the PAC and wants people to get on board.

Sanford in GOP runoff, Colbert Busch wins Dem nomination

Charleston, South Carolina (CNN) – Former Gov. Mark Sanford finished first in Tuesday's crowded Republican primary for the U.S. House special election in South Carolina, CNN projects. However, Sanford fell well short of the 50% margin needed to avoid a runoff.

The former governor will compete against Curtis Bostic, a former Charleston councilman, in a runoff election in two weeks. The third place finisher, state Sen. Larry Grooms, conceded the race Wednesday.

Sanford seeks 'redemption' in wild congressional race

Charleston, South Carolina (CNN) - In South Carolina, Mark Sanford needs no introduction.

But after the former governor of the state infamously told the public he was hiking the Appalachian Trail while he was actually traveling to Argentina to carry on an extramarital affair, a reintroduction wouldn't hurt.

"At some level or another we all hope for redemption," Sanford told CNN in an interview.

From tours to tuition assistance, the faces of the cuts

Washington (CNN) – They rode busses from Burlington, North Carolina, with confirmation in hand for a tour inside 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

But the fifth-grade students from Eastlawn Elementary only made it as far as the park outside of the White House gates.
