Administration official defends Hagel from GOP criticism

Washington (CNN) – A senior administration official offered some sharp pushback Monday on Sen. Lindsey Graham's comments about the president's choice in Chuck Hagel for Defense Secretary.

Graham made headlines Sunday when he blasted Hagel as an "in-your-face" choice during an interview on CNN's "State of the Union." The South Carolina senator labeled Hagel a "controversial" pick by President Obama and didn't rule out staging a filibuster to prevent a vote on Hagel's nomination.

Jersey Shore meets the fiscal cliff

Washington (CNN) - After a series of meetings with both President Barack Obama and congressional leaders, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who is rarely at a loss for words, declined to answer questions from reporters Thursday and left Washington in near total silence.

As it turns out, the rising Republican star's quest for money to rebuild his state's battered shoreline may be colliding with another crisis - the fiscal cliff. In other words: bad timing.

Democratic strategist and CNN Contributor Hilary Rosen bantered briefly with Clinton before the November election about the prospect of a second run for the White House. It was a "sign me up for that" type of chat which, Rosen cautions, did not last long.
