Perry faces scathing reviews day after debate

Orlando (CNN) - Rick Perry may be a little saddle sore after the rough ride he had at Thursday's GOP presidential debate, but the real question is whether the front-runner in this horse race did more than just throw a shoe.

Republicans looking for reviews of Rick Perry's performance can go right to the search engine that sponsored the debate, Google.

Perry on Bachmann's vaccine gaffe: 'No basis in fact'

Richmond, Virginia (CNN) – Texas Governor Rick Perry took issue Wednesday with Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann's recent comments linking the HPV vaccine to mental retardation.

The issue flared up at Monday's "CNN-Republican Tea Party Debate" when Bachmann slammed Perry's decision in 2007 to require vaccinations for Texas school girls against the sexually transmitted HPV virus which may cause cervical cancer.

Did Bachmann wound front-runner Perry at CNN/Tea Party Debate?

Tampa (CNN) – Perhaps it was because Rep. Michele Bachmann was in her element at the CNN/Tea Party Republican Debate. With her campaign flagging, the founder of the Tea Party Caucus in Congress delivered a surprise body blow to the GOP front-runner, Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

Challenging Perry on his 2007 executive order that required Texas schoolgirls to receive vaccinations against the sexually transmitted HPV virus, Bachmann suggested the governor acted for purely political reasons.

It's showtime for Rick Perry

Los Angeles (CNN) - It is fitting that Rick Perry will take the stage in his first presidential debate just a short drive from Hollywood.

After a quick and relatively easy ride to the top of the GOP field in less than a month, the Texas governor now has to perform. And for many conservatives, the Reagan Presidential Library is a solid scene-setter for a classic California western. Make that a wild west shootout for Perry, who will probably see attacks coming from all sides.

Is deficit fever a political disaster in the making?

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Just as Hurricane Irene was slamming the East Coast, the political rhetoric was approaching category 5 strength in other parts of the country.

Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann joked at a campaign event in Florida that the disaster was a sign from God that federal spending was out of control.

Perry on his predecessor: 'I love George Bush'

Washington (CNN) – If Rick Perry is elected President, he will be the second Texas governor in a row to do so. So it's natural that Perry will be asked the George W. Bush question time and again in the upcoming campaign: how is he different?

During Perry's run for re-election in 2006, Perry told a local PBS station in Austin it's perfectly fine to draw distinctions.

Perry mixes political script with Scripture

Houston (CNN) – Turning a Houston football stadium into a Texas-sized mega-church, Gov. Rick Perry took a political leap of faith just as he is contemplating a run for president.

The potential GOP contender delivered a script laced with Scripture at Saturday’s daylong prayer and fasting event, dubbed “The Response.”
