Newport News, Virginia (CNN) - Mitt Romney rolled out a new response to last week’s jobs numbers during a rain-soaked rally in Newport News Monday, where he took heart from a group of several hundred hardy - and sodden - supporters.
After the release of Friday's government report showing unemployment had dipped to 7.8%, its lowest rate in years, Romney dropped a regular line attacking President Barack Obama for presiding over 43 months in office with a rate higher than 8%.

Denver (CNN) - The morning after Mitt Romney's widely-lauded debate performance, Republican officials in Colorado showed their approval with a lengthy standing ovation during a surprise appearance by the GOP nominee.
On the heels of a flurry of positive reviews, Romney made an unscheduled stop Thursday morning at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Denver, where he repeated his Wednesday-night criticism of what he called President Obama's "trickle-down government."

Denver (CNN) - As Mitt Romney headed into the crunch period of debate preparation with a heavy weight of expectations on his shoulders, he told a sprawling Denver audience that the Wednesday night match-up against President Barack Obama wasn't about a scoring a win.
"People want to know who's going to win - who's going to score the punches and who's going to make the biggest difference in the arguments they make," Romney said. "You know, in my view, it's not so much winning and losing or even the people themselves - the president and myself - it's about something bigger than that."

Westerville, Ohio (CNN) – As he attempts to reverse a polling deficit against President Obama in Ohio, Mitt Romney had a message for that swing state's voters Wednesday: he feels their pain, and he knows how to fix it.
The GOP presidential candidate told 2,000 voters in a high school gym outside Columbus they could trust him to know his strengths – righting the economy, he said, as well as tackling the national debt.
