New Orleans, Louisiana (CNN) – Rep. Paul Ryan was prepared when seniors first responded inhospitably to his remarks about repealing Obamacare at the AARP conference in New Orleans Friday.

Ryan counters on the trail in Virginia

Danville, Virginia (CNN) – Rep. Paul Ryan delivered the Romney campaign's new counter-offensive message of self-reliance versus redistribution of wealth at a rally on Wednesday.

"President [Barack] Obama said that he believes in redistribution. Mitt Romney and I are not running to redistribute the wealth. Mitt Romney and I are running to help Americans create wealth. Efforts that promote hard work and personal responsibility over government dependency are what have made this economy the envy of the world," the vice presidential candidate said in Virginia.

Paul Ryan says Romney comments ‘obviously inarticulate'

Greensboro, North Carolina (CNN) – Republican vice presidential candidate Rep. Paul Ryan said Mitt Romney’s leaked comments were “obviously inarticulate” in an interview Tuesday, but stood by the point that people have become too dependent on government under President Barack Obama.

“He was obviously inarticulate in making this point, and the point we’re trying to make here is under the Obama economy, government dependency is up and economic stagnation is up, and what we’re trying to achieve is getting people off of government dependency and back to a job that pays well and gets them onto a path of prosperity,” Ryan said in the interview with KRNV in Reno, Nevada.
