Romney message this week: 'A clear choice on debt and deficits'

Richmond, Virginia (CNN) - Aside from Tuesday's pivotal town hall debate in New York, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will use the upcoming week to focus on the issues of debt and deficits.

Polls show voters trust Romney over President Barack Obama on the question of who would better handle the national debt, one reason the Romney campaign has launched a new television ad attacking the president on the issue. Romney will also deliver a speech on government spending this Friday.

Romney mailer vows to protect health care 'choice'

Richmond, Virginia (CNN) - The message on the front of the brochure looks like something Planned Parenthood might send out to potential supporters.

"It's your health," reads a strip of bolded text, placed just above an ominous-looking photo of two doctors in scrubs, shot from the perspective of an operating table. "Shouldn't it be your choice?"

A glimpse into the campaign life of Mitt Romney

Louisville, Kentucky (CNN) - Mitt Romney doesn't have a lot of free time.

FIRST ON CNN: Jindal and Christie set to lead Republican Governors Association

Washington (CNN) – Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie are slated to lead the Republican Governors Association through the next two election cycles, a post that would give both of the rising GOP stars a national platform to seek the presidency should Mitt Romney falter in November.

Under an arrangement that appears to have the blessing of RGA member governors as well as both the Jindal and Christie camps, Jindal will serve as RGA Chairman in 2013, when the Virginia and New Jersey governorships are up for grabs.

Romney mail piece takes aim at 'Obamacare'

Washington (CNN) – A new mailer from the Romney campaign portrays “Obamacare” in a particularly harsh light, claiming that President Barack Obama’s health care law would send jobs overseas and force millions off Americans off their existing coverage.

The mail piece, which landed in Virginia mailboxes late last week, says Republican nominee Mitt Romney would “take immediate steps to repeal and replace Obamacare” on the first day of his presidency.

Washington (CNN) – If it wasn't already clear that Mitt Romney and his allies are trying to lower expectations heading into next Wednesday's debate against President Obama in Denver, the campaign is now making it official.
